OP's post was AMAZING. Been doing some quick scans to get some detail around what to do for paint care/cleaning, etc. When I found this... just perfect, so thank you.

One question, are the brands/techniques in beginning still what people are using for product, etc. I see it was originally written in 2008, curious if OP has gone back and updated list over the years.

    Thanks again!

Check out the Griots Garage 6" polisher, I've never seen a similar priced polisher recommended over that one. Depending on if you're going to compound and polish or just polish you'll likely want many more of the same kind of pad. Pads get overloaded with product and clearcoat so it's best to use multiple pads for the compound and or polish stage. When applying sealants or wax you can get away with the same pad for whole vehicle.

Any suggestions for removing the build up/dirt/smudge under the TRD graphics as well as paint Protection Film? It just seems that the corners seem to stay dirty and a toothbrush doesn’t really work.

What is everyone using to clean the door section with that rubber material? My dog likes to drool on it after walks. Because of the texture I find it difficult to keep clean.

Remove the plastic and decals with a heat gun.
Seriously thats going to be the only way to keep that area looking nice.
I removed all mine for easier detailing and its been great.

Be more specific, not sure what you mean.

You mean the seal around the base of the window on the inside?

That’s what I was afraid of. I’d like to keep it on but it’s always been a pain to maintain.

Once it gets under decal, it’s there. Only way to stop it is to prevent it, which means taping off before waxing/sealing.

Chemical Guys Wrap Detailer and Nufinish supposedly works. I will see soon enough and report back.

I use an all purpose cleaner if really dirty or waterless wash. Then I protect with Carpro Perl or Adams Leather conditioner (ok for plastic and vinyl).

A word of caution regarding the Chemical Guys all in one interior cleaner - it peeled the finish off two of my cars.

    What make/model of cars?
Can you show a link to the actual product you mention?

I’ve never had a problem with CG Interior Detailer or any of their products for that matter.

Has anyone noticed that using the MeGuiar's interior protectant that it doesn't cover consistently? When I use it, whether I spray on interior surface or put on a rag and apply, it seems to lay down unevenly, if that's how you would even say it. Is there a better product for our interiors that you guys have found? I have a 2014.

I use Chemical Guys Interior Detailer and I love it.

I do not apply protectants to my interior because #1 I’m not a pig, I have no kids, and animals are not allowed in my vehicles and #2 I have high quality UV blocking films on my windows.
I just keep the interior clean.

Protectants can be oily and need to be rubbed in for even application. I don’t like the splotchy oily finish they give so I don’t use them.

I’d like to hear others opinions on this but unless you are rough on your interior I’m not really sure a protectant is really necessary. Unless it contains a conditioner I’m unaware of. But most don’t claim to do that.

I have been using CG Interior Detailer for over a year. It does not harm interior finishes and does not contain any harsh chemicals.
Would be nice if people would elaborate on their poor experience or I’ll just assume they are blowing smoke.

Which Megs product are you using? I haven’t had any issues with the products I use.

My opinion is you still need a protectant of some sort to hydrate the interior. It’s still going to dry out.

Currently using the interior detailer cleaner. Previously used the protectant. It just seems to lay down odd on the textured surface of the dash and lower door panel.

I would try a different product.

    I assume this is it

Wonder if it’s having a hard time removing the old product?
