Geico does that, my 1st Gen got hit and they sent a check and happily let me take care of it.

I would never turn in that small of a claim on my insurance. Even though it looks like there is a small dent in the bedside, a high clearance bumper would make the dent go away.

Insurance companies don't like to lose money. The increased premiums will far exceed the cost of a high clearance bumper.

There's a crease in the bedside that will rot if it's not repaired properly. The DOT here loves to spray liquid car cancer on the roads if it's below 40 and there's a cloud in the sky. I'm estimating to have it fixed back to OEM will be around $2k or more at the shop I'll be using. I've paid enough for insurance over the last decade and have accident forgiveness.

Does anyone know how long the 4x sale is going? I can't seem to find anything on their site about when it expires...

There are several options. Ideally, look for a local
That crease right above the exhaust pipe?

That'll get cut off with a high clearance bumper.

They/i would cut off the bedside behind a wraparound bumper? Because if you leave it, it is still going to get salt/moisture in the cracks in the paint and rot. It happened with the last truck I owned. I’m thinking I’ll steer away from the wraparound bumper and cutting so that if life happens and I have to sell, it would be able to convert back to oem. I see 4 or 5 year old gm trucks with bed rot above the wheel arches. I’m trying to avoid the inevitable onslaught of body rust.

Edit: just saw the pic of the cutoff for a high clearance bumper. I’m kind of weary to cut portions of the body out, I just worry that sealing off the raw edge will lead to problems down the road. From my viewpoint, with what I have invested in the truck i think the low risk bolt on application without cutting/sealing of body panels would be the way to go, the brine mix the DOT uses around here will get into any unprotected spot and from there it’s just a matter of time before it rots out.

I painted the cut with some duplicolor then installed door trim molding between the cut and bumper. There is no bare metal and the door trim molding prevents the bumper from rubbing on the painted bedside. You can see a bit of the trim in these pics.

Looks nice! What make and model is that bumper? Is it a 4x? Sad, their site doesnt list 2016-2017’s.
