Yep. I’ve got a few leads for land work but would rather another offshore gig. Seem to not spend money in the ocean like when I could drive off at the end of a shift. Maybe 2/3 or 3/4 of my recent pay, but it is what it is.

yeah absolutely. offshore is great that it pays higher and keeps your expenditures lower. next is having an ROP that keeps you busy and off of Amazon/TW lol

    Good luck man

Well fellas. The Permian Basin of W.TX and E.NM is balls out wide open right now. I hired on as a floorhand and now 5 weeks later I’m offered a drilling job. Experience is limited in this localized boom and anyone with it that makes a showing will get moved up. Good for me...bad for those that just check wait.

Plus it’s hot as hel here. Sweet. 110* in the shade and 120*+ in direct sunlight. Cool at night though. Humidity is usually sub 7% so that’s an awesome feeling for those from the gulf coast region.

Service trades are at a premium also. Electricians were getting $40+/hour. HVAC guys $100+. Welders with their own truck and rig $60-70/hour. Getting paid from shop to shop round trip. Wireline, coil tubing, cementing, fracing, directional, whatever. All hiring.

    Here’s between the mud pumps.

Glad you weren't out of commission for too long. There is TONS of activity out there yes. Chevron doing lots of work, we're doing MWD on most of their rigs out there right now.

What rig they have you on?

I remember the mud pump room on our drillships, was easily 110deg too that was not very fun to sit in. Don't know how the mud pit hands sat down there all day.

Cool yeah we're running a lot of Patterson rigs. Should be pretty safe there for a while

It's tempting to make the transition from downstream to upstream...

Ex-Alberta (predominantly) oil patch guy here. Hung it up in favour of a lot of education but deep inside you never get the rig hand outta your system once you’ve been there. I’d trust a rig hand to watch my back anytime.

    Know any of their numbers?

I’ll be bringing my ‘99 Taco this next trip. Hopefully it’ll make it but I passed a couple that wouldn’t have trusted out of my yard. LOL. So I should be fine. If you see a clean green 1st gen with a camper shell and an Elite bumper, it’s me.

you should be good. test that Taco's limits!

We run tons but I'm in a remote center based in Houston, so you won't be seeing me out there lol. But we run a bunch, 257, 254, 297, probably more. If you're on any rig that has 1/2 or full remote MWD service that's us

LOL. I was on 257 a few weeks ago. Double D was stacking those BBs pretty good. He was country as sheeeet. Company rep couldn’t understand him. LOL.

We’re running remote for nighttime. A woman based from Houston with 4 rigs to deal with. So far so good.

Hehe she's sitting right next to me now, but it's my last night. But yeah 3 active rigs drilling is typical in here. a 4th or 5th to keep in touch with (section TD, etc) is usually how it is in here. There were a few months where it was normal for 95% of the room have 4 active drilling and 2 others on standby, those were hectic days.

Had to chase/follow 3 drilling rigs once all summer long with a coiled tubing unit. Did clean outs before each Frac. Each well had 3 zones. They moved pretty steady at about 18hrs. a piece. Don't think I slept that Summer let alone got a day off.

It must be the rainy season out here. This thunderstorm hung out all night at the base for the Guadeloupe Mtns south of Carlsbad, NM the other day.

Spotted this in Midland. There’s a museum directly behind it off of i20. Next time I’m hung up for any period of time there I’m going to have a look see at the museum.

So I hate to be that guy, but I'm in a bit of a pickle.

How difficult is it to break into upstream, and are there any particular resources I should investigate?
