Hit a farm pond this weekend. Bite was slow but got some good truck pics from the water.

Have any of you heard about Pelican introducing their version of a mirage drive in 2019? I was wondering about the price, I had my sites set on getting the Hobie Outback this coming year but the Pelican may alter my choice.

it is true, pelican has now got a hold of the "OLD" drive. patent for the old drive has expired. I would get the pelican hands down due to having gear tracks vs the outback....price difference too...

fishing out of a kayak is incredible. I recently purchased a Vibe Seaghost 110, after using a cheaper boat from dicks for a few years! Couldnt be happier with my new boat

Actually bought mine at the beginning of summer. The 2019 is tempting to trade up though.

Been serious yak fishing for the past 4 years and have grown through various methods of transport. Finally got a trailer and it's the bee's knees.....

NRS Chinook is awesome and highly recommended. We have 2 and they are very comfortable.

What I use. Inflates only if you get it wet. Very cool in the hot weather here.

I’ve watched more then one person go over with one of those around their necks. They’ll keep you afloat but makes it harder to manage a flipper kauak and get backup. I personally would never use those on my kayak.

Lots of guys use them. My concern would be the lack of pockets and storage. What happens when it rains?
The Chinook has many lashing points which is important to me. Most everything on my person is leashed in the event of turtling or just dropping it in the water. Lashed or secured in a pocket are: whistle, braid scissors, 2 way radio, emergency strobe, flashlight, 8" & 10" surgical needle holders, dive knife (on shoulder), fishing license, and terminal tackle. Pretty much everything but the kitchen sink. And still, with all that gear, I barely notice that I'm wearing it..... For me, it works quite nicely....
