    Good for you for trying.

    Now try harder.

I'm a side sleeper too. The right pillow, the Dreamwear headgear and the nose pillow pieces all make it possible.

There are a variety of sleeping pillow options in the last few years. And I'm not sure if the 'Dreamwear' type units were even available in '14?

I have it unfortunately. 175lbs now had it even at 145lbs and even thru bootcamp, I'm honestly surprised I didn't get kicked out of the Marine Corps for it (surprisingly they never checked for sleep apnea). I have large tonsils and have been prone to throat infections and I snore heavy.

I recently tried the mouthpiece you hear about on the infomercials, not sure if it's effective or not, I feel a little more rested but sleep/live alone so can't tell if I still snore.

I've been using my cpap for about 2 months now and the difference in the way I feel is amazing. I also sleep on my side...i use the Resmed N20 nasal cushion and my events per night are 2 and under.

Great post, people! So sorry you have to deal with this malady. The reason I’m posting is wondering what is the best CPAP machine (with water vapor heater I guess) for camping? Are there any that will last at least two nights on batteries alone? I know about checking current requirements and such, just wondering what the lowest current draw machines are that may be made specially for this.

We have a family friend who wont go places without 120v and I probably could use the truck alternator, but thats for only when she is with our family, but I’d rather not idle the truck while camping and would just really use it as a emergency backup generator.

Please PM me or use quote this post if you respond here. Thanks!

As far as machines go...i've got the Resmed Airsense 10 autoset....awesome lil machine, noiseless....i or my wife doesn't hear it at night...easy to use. Now as far as camping goes, I haven't tried it yet....but they make a mini travel cpap, but you have to use certain masks with it. Here is the link for info... https://www.resmed.com/us/en/consumer/products/devices/airmini.html I know Amazon sells batteries, but they are a lil pricey.

Wow, thanks! It uses only .85 amps at 24v, that’s perfect for use with all sorts of consumer batteries. Thanks!

I keep a deep cycle battery and a 120watt inverter bedside for power outages. Delray trickle charger to maintain. My battery test run 10 nights before the inverter beeped for low battery. Battery is Duracell 24DC.

Have been using cpap machine since 2006. Now have a bipap respironics system one machine and remstar swift with nasal pillows, the nasal pillows is best face mask ive found for me. For power outages I have a battery jumper box. Plug an inverter to it and can get full night sleep on it. For extended nights with no power I have an optima yellow top in my truck. Made accessory hot all the time and plug in inverter, plug extension cord in inverter. I use this method at camp since our generator is loud, dont wana spend the extra for the quiet honda. Sleep machines are a pain sometimes but worth the extra effort for a good nights rest. If you are tent camping they make small portable batteries that can last 20+ hrs. They are not cheap but you dont have many options if you are backpacking. It also took me 4 months to be able to sleep with the machine, it was worth the it. Lots of diferent methods and good adcice on here
