For me around town it improves the mileage but at highway speeds I get better in D.

In the mountains I do best with ect strangely enough.

Nice thing about SSP is it’s another arrow in the quiver. I don’t use it all the time but it’s clutch when I do.

Ahh that's kind of a bummer. Overall my truck isint terrible, but hills are just annoying. Even slight inclines on highway driving. I was hoping this would be a good option for that

It helps the multiple shiftings in the hills but I don’t think it improves mpgs. At least not in my experience.

It holds gears longer than the normal D shifting so you end up driving in a lower gear and higher rpms with way less up and down gear hunting.

Does MPG drastically decrease though? I'm content with my MPGs, just the gear hunting is annoying. I'd hate to lose any mpg

No it’s a pretty minor loss I think. Well worth it.

You can also mimic the SSPro by putting it in s mode and shifting yourself. It basically shifts like you would.

I have V2 of the SSP that DZ replaced the first version under warranty and it runs great and doesn't shift all the time, it keeps the tranny in each gear a little longer than normal depending on your driving conditions and runs great.

This was the first mod I did to my truck, well after having the dealer change the tires out. I didn't care for the standard shifting. SSP makes it shift like it should.

Gas mileage is between 21-22 mpg, which is slightly less (still on stock tires) ... most of my driving is highway. The cruise control is still junk which affects shifting. The engine doesn’t lug at 1200 rpm anymore so shifting feels better to me and there are fewer shifts while driving up and down hills... yes there are plenty of hills in NW Florida. I am going to leave shifter in D in town and S on the highway and see if the gas mileage doesn’t get better.
Very happy with this especially since I moved the box under the phone charger area

Well the SSP experiment turned out to be a fail. It definitely changed shifting habits, but imo not much for the better, for my truck anyway. It killed my fuel economy about 2 mpg or so.

With the issues some explain, I could see it being an improvement.

They company was easy to deal with. Retuned it no questions asked. Except the 15% restocking fee was a little high I thought, but hey its business

I installed the SSP v2 on my '18 TRD sport the other day, took 15 minutes at most and was a massive improvement in the way the transmission shifts. I tried all 3 modes and have settled on mode 2 (std.) for now. I especially like the way it shifts during around-town driving. Now things feel a lot more like my old 4.0 SR5. I stuffed the box under the phone charger like other people have mentioned. Plenty of room for it there and you can still hear the beeps, but just barely.

Just re-plugged my shift sense back in. After two months without it after the TSB 62-18 my transmission is as bad as ever with shifting at any incline and all over the map. I’m almost ready to give up with the truck! SSP is helping somewhat again. What are others doing?

Not even the OVTune fixes the ridiculous erratic shifting at highway speeds. The next update might.......... if we're lucky.

I really hope so. I’m at a complete loss as to how to make highway driving at all bearable in the foothills. Going to try ECT combinations next.

We have no hills here, but its windy all the time, and speed limits are 75 on the highway. This backwards ass Tacoma will use 4th gear at 3500 RPMs for miles on end with the cruise set from 75-80. Gas mileage is terrible because of it. On the flip side, when driving around town, it likes to be in 5th gear at 31mph. So dumb. I wish we could control downshifting just like how the SSP controls upshifting. If you try using ECT, you might notice it downshifts even more aggressively as ECT is always looking for more power, and the power band on this motor is from 3500-6000RPMs.
