I don't think they make a Smart Handle for the Passenger Side.

Yeah you definitely can’t add a smart key to the passenger side.

Weird request honestly. Bluetooth keys are worth their weight in gold... not having to take my keys out of my pocket is beyond worth any drawbacks you could come up with.

OP, key fobs are waterproof and a lot more robust than they appear. I have run a Toyota fob through the washing machine and it worked just fine. I think once you get used to it, you would be accepting of it. As mentioned above, remote start might be a good option for you as well.

I don’t understand how the smart key is not a better option for you? You can stick it in your pocket In the morning and not have to take it out until you get home at the end of the day. You can lock/unlock/start your truck without ever taking it out of your pocket. If you’re willing to, there’s a write up on here that adds the smart key handle to the passenger side so you can unlock/lock your truck from the passenger side as well.

I work in construction and have my key on me all day long, never had any issues damaging it or losing it. There’s even a vendor on here that sells protective covers for the fobs if you’re that worried.

Yes. I will deffinately look into the remote start. I just hate the concept of having to put your foot on the brake to start the truck. Why can't I just reach in and push the damn button?

The smart key tries to solve a problem that does not exist. Why not just offer the truck with both types of ignitions? Or better yet do what GM did, keep the physical key and have a remote start.

As stated before I rarely go to the driver door first. I will have to take the fob out to unlock and lock the passenger side door. Maybe Toyota should include a passenger smart handle from the factory.

You sound like you just need a GM. Toyota knows its customer base and you don't seem like part of it. Seriously, you are in the minority.

When I want to warm up my truck in the cold I just use my left hand against the brake and press the ignition button.

I totally get it. I hated the Smart key. So traded for a MT TRD OR. Problem solved.

If I were in your shoes, I’d get an SR or SR5. Truck is still super capable with the auto-LSD. Pick up some max trax if you need to. Or add some ARB’s down the line.

Adding the smart handle to my wife’s side was the best mod to date on my truck. Totally changed my view of PTS. Yes, having to get in these days to start is a bit of a pain on occasions... but I’m not certain that’s not a requirement on the keyed version too.

I effed up, I drunk-wrote a message. It's 150$. I bought it a year ago and haven't installed it. Its from KB Voodoo. They also have a backup camera override kit. Both kits require tapping wires so if you're not comfortable with that I wouldn't get it.
