Bought my first tacoma yesterday. '16 Double Cab TRD Off-Road. All stock. Looking to add a roof and bed rack that finish flush at the top. Similar functionality to a traditional ladder rack on a work truck, but more rugged / off-road style. Need to be able to carry anything from kayaks to 16' long boards. Any suggestions?

If I was looking for a flush setup this is the one I would have gone with.

For the roof rack I like the OEM version. I like how the crossbars fold out of the way when not in use. I'll probably get that rack, and for the bed a simple ladder rack, or maybe a single post/rack that comes up from the tow-hitch so I won't have to screw around with my tonneau cover. A 17' canoe is what I'll be hauling, eventually.

Nice setup, but not really what I'm looking for. Still want open access to the bed on the sides and back. Something similar to this guy's setup, but would want cross bars on the roof.

The Dissent rack is open sided - the side doors are optional.

I inquired from the company that did that custom rack that you posted above. You may be closer but they would probably need your truck for a week or two

I set mine up for kayaks. I have an OEM roof rack and the Smittybilt Defender 45454 on my SOS CONCEPTS aluminum bed rack from @EddyRRT's shop. I had the bed rack custom sized in height and I took my time finding the proper basket so that it sits flush with the OEM roof rack when the arms are deployed.

You could have a custom-made rack to give you more access from the sides.

Not bad sir. I like the look when you combine the OEM roof rack with the bed rack. I'm looking for a bed rack that has forward leaning posts though instead of the straight vertical setup like you have.
