    Aha, that makes sense, then.
    Ours got snagged by animal control and had already been in the shelter (with the dogs; apparently that's where this shelter keeps the ferals rather than with the other cats) for a couple of months when the GF stopped in looking for a mouser. She brought him home and he spent a few days hiding under the woodstove. Then one evening after we'd gone to bed he crept in to the bedroom, hops up with us, and falls asleep on my feet. Next morning he comes running into the kitchen and jumps up on my GF's lap while she was sitting at the bar eating breakfast. After that he decided he was a lap cat and he's been a shoving my books out of the way to make space for himself ever since.

    When they decide they belong, there's not much you can do about it.

    Bitsy was a great gopher-getter in CA! Since moving to UT, we have a ravine out the back door and a street right out the front. Im hesitant to let any of them out... We do let them out on the upstair porch since they cant get away from there. The three oldest love soaking up the sun rays out there. Bitsy? She's out there 2 minutes and wants to come back in to the AC... She's perfectly content to be indoors. All the time.

    Smokey spent a couple of months being absolutely terrified of the outdoors when we first got him. We'd open a door and he'd run the other way. Must have had a really bad experience the last time he went outside (like, he got lost, got caught, got his balls disconnected, and got left in a shelter for months). We eventually dragged him out there and sat with him with some treats while he frantically tried to get back inside, but that was enough to get him over being terrified of the door. Then he started asking to go out, and now he's outside as much as he's in.

    We don't keep raisins in this house. Matter of fact, I cant tell you the last time I ate one.

    But in other cat behaviors...

    Are you allowed to attend to bathroom duties by yourself? In this house... cat attendance is mandatory...
