Hey y’all, I’m gonna buy the ebay rear bumper for the taco, but I’m a little worried about something. I know the license plate has to flip down in order to tow a trailer. Will I get pulled over if cops can’t see the license plate while I’m towing?

    I live in GA btw.

You can't really see the plate when you're towing regardless of your setup.

If it's a flip-down is it possible to install the bracket upside-down so it flips up instead? At least that's semi visible.

    Link the bumper?

If you're not aware already, moving the receiver up so much requires a lot of drop in the hitch. I had to step up from a 3" drop to an 8".

Does GA have a FRONT plate?
HERE, we have front and back plate. The validation stick on CARGO vehicles (like pickups) goes on the front plate, and on passenger vehicles, on the back plate. They configure it in this way because they assume that a cargo vehicle is very likely to have its rear plate obscured by cargo or a trailer, thus not being visible.

Now of course, that does not mean that you won't get pulled over, but rather than there are or may be additional plates around that they will use to identify you as needed, so it might not be the greatest of concerns to them.

Where I would get really concerned, is if you are in a position of towing something that does not itself have a plate (certain extremely short trailers, like log splitters, HERE, do not need a plate), and in some place where there is NO front plate, like FL. In such cases, you may not have ANY visible plate, in which case, you probably would get pulled over.

If we look at the actual statute in many states. Towing anything, by itself is illegal in regard to license plates. Having a dirty plate is legal reason for a stop.

As i used to tell people, if i want to stop you, i can find a reason. I can probably find that reason within a block or two.

But *will* you get stopped. Probably not. Unless i have a reason to want to do it

Exactly, and the point I was aiming at in a kind of roundabout manner. If something is really obvious, you're going to get stopped, but meet a reasonable person half way, and you probably won't be seeing any major issues.
