Need some advice. My mom's 4 runner is a 2016 sr5. She wants to put a lift on it anywhere in the 4-5 inch range nothing shorter though. I found 2 kits. One by tuff country and one by rough country anybody know of better kits and if these kits are any good. She will need to be able to perform some mild offroading when we go deer hunting. She also wants a smooth ride and it will need to fit 33 inch tires. Any advice will be greatly appreciated thanks!

4Runners don't respond well to large lifts. They have short driveshafts in the rear and its difficult to compensate for the serious angle put on it. They never drive right after.

Stock they have great approach and departure angles and already come with 1" larger tires than a Tacoma. So all you really need to do is a simply coil and shock lift. Panhard bar is necessary over 2" in the rear.

Get a 3" spacer lift and a 1.5" body lift. Cheap and will still maintain most of the stock ride quality. Will fit 33's easy and be the most-ish lift you can get easily. Mom won't know they aren't kings/fox/icon.

    Too few to list.
Just fyi, stock 5th Gen 4Runner can fit 275/70R17 (32.2") without rubbing issues at all.

I think you should ask her why she needs any lift at all. Mild off roading doesn't require it.

Hopefully it's not your idea trying to jack up mom's ride and she said 'ok, as long as you don't mess up my ride'.

If you chose to proceed, at least follow the guidance @Bishop84 offers. He is a Toyota tech.

No. She loves lifted vehicles. She had a tacoma lifted and a jeep a couple years ago. She wants something that fits her personality and for it to look better than all the other stock 4runners running around here. It wasn't my idea and she's paying someone to do it that does it for Toyota. Her Tacoma had a 3 inch lift on it and it wasn't enough for her that explains it. She does if for the look.

4-5" is pretty unreasonable for a daily driver and will require a lot of effort.

And hell, at 5", 33s" are going to look like donut spares.

Wow, you don’t usually hear about moms wanting 5-6 inch lifts
