Best thing to do is get it appraised first

Then based on value, determine best course for sale

Sounds good. Will find out next week the cost and make a decision. Its a beautiful shotgun with a cool story but sucks it just sits there. Not one for just sitting on things that don't get used. Worst collector ever.

Ive kept pictures and other small items for sure. Those hold more value for me. My great uncle after the Battle of the Bulge. Belgium, 1944

Hahaha. Thanks! Haven't decided but just sits there and have no real connection to it. Was stolen out of Germany when my great Uncle would sneak out at night across enemy lines and steal shit from the enemy. Good ole Virginia boy! His superiors supposedly would get pissed at him all the time.

Don't sell it. Your family's future generations will thank you.

I can understand OPs possible desire to sell it

This is a heirloom, display firearm...not a shooter

If OP doesn’t plan on passing it down and doesn’t want to,display it...sometimes it’s better to put $$ in its place

Pretty much my thinking. I do have other firearms which I take out, which makes this one the black sheep...

I’d still be inclined to keep it, but if you can make some serious $$ at auction with it...I won’t fault you

Great picture. Nice shotgun too but I understand. I gave my nephew an island bringback because a) he liked it more than I did and b) was expensive to shoot, yet wasn't a great shooter. Also, since it was broken out of a crate it had no history....just a gun left behind.

Maybe it's time for the gun to go back home......I sold some of my old MX gear to collectors in Japan and got top dollar. Don't discount foreign markets if selling there is allowed.

edit: Gunbroker is prob. THE best bet to get it into the person's hand that wants it the most though. Any shop is wanting for resale and going to offer 1/2 price of value at best. Don't really blame them either. They have even less attachment than you do.

Dang sorry missed it. It’s a nice firearm. If I had some extra money laying around I’d think about grabbing it. Good luck with the sale
