Looking at getting a new Tacoma.
The dealer has one, already lifted.
Read few posts that said if the dealer has done this already, it is usually with cheap stuff and a huge markup.

If I pick up a new Tacoma, what is the average cost in the DFW area, to have it lifted? Basic lift, nothing crazy.
Since I know nothing about this, I would take it somewhere and let them do everything.

Trying to get an idea on whether having the dealer do it, vs doing it 3rd party after purchase.
I did not see a lift option on the Toyota website.

You might call 4 Wheel Parts in Dallas and tell them what you are looking for.

I know, but just trying to get an idea on what it may cost vs having dealer do it or buying it already lifted from dealer, plus pros/cons.

Dealers are prob. doing it with 300 bux worth of parts. And that's a waste of 300 bux. But they will mark it up 2000.

Parts for a decent lift are 1000. (very rough estimate, haven't priced anything in 10 years) Another grand (at a 4WD shop) to install. Sooooo, up to you.

Is it just for looks or do you NEED it?

    It's your money but I wouldn't.

Dealers most like are just going to block it up. Not worth a shit but all you need.

Any lift has some drawbacks in the long run, you have to be prepared for them when they show. (increased rate of wear on front parts and vibrations)

If your up for the drive @Texoma lives in Lago Vista just outside Austin. He has great prices does incredible work. He’s did my first lift, HC rear bumper an installed my Trutrac in the rearend. He has worked on plenty of other members trucks, he’s the only person I trust to work on my stuff. I’ve never had one single with something he’s touched on mine.

Thanks @MattCowsmasher . @lardo5150 If you're getting a lift just for looks, you still want to upgrade the suspension, and not downgrade it with a block lift. Check out @HeadStrong Off-Road for lift kits at excellent prices. If you are up for a drive I can save you some cash on installation. I can also do Cab Mount Chop so you can have larger tires without rubbing. If you have any questions, let me know and I'll be happy to answer.

Fuck the dealer. Just order a lift you want, and find a small shop to do it. If it's just a 3 inch lift, spacer or springs. Shouldn't cost but a few hundred bucks to install. Like maybe under 300

I bought mine, then had full suspension lift and wheels/tires slapped on at a shop on the side. Based on what a couple dealers came back with, doing it this way saved me Just under $5k. If you can make the money work, get it done after the purchase.

To clarify a bit, I provided the dealerships with the specific part numbers I wanted for the lift tires and wheels. They came back with the prices to do it in house (through one of their partnered shops) and it came out to that much of a difference.

Order from headstrong. Do it yourself. It's not hard at all. You will need to get an alignment after though.

A little late to the party on this but I'm a HUGE fan of Baertrax (http://www.baertrax.com) in Dallas. They do great work, in a timely manner. And they don't mark up the parts. You can even purchase the kit yourself and bring it to them for the install.

Happy to help. They (BaerTrax) ended up charging me about half of what the dealership wanted for most of my mods.
