    looks awesome!

About how much lower is the skid vs the diff itself? Wondering how much clearance it took

Maybe 1/2 inch, not much for the protection gained

Hey me too. Just got my truck last week. That’s long enough to wait before modding right? Thanks for the pic I think I’ll pull the triggers on both this week. Did you go for the steel or aluminum?

I just called RCI for some info on sales and lead times. They said that the next sale will possibly be black Friday. Current lead times listed on the website might be a little optimistic since they have a bunch of open orders from the labor day sale.

They suggested calling them or sending an email (not through the forum) for a quick reply. They are focused on completing orders and growing the shop right now. I applaud that focus in light of recent events.

This is what I did. Called up and spoke with Josh. Got my order in and had the part that same week!
I’ve heard they recently moved into a new, larger shop and are planning on growing the business.

The skids have proven extremely effective and I’ve put them to the test.

Good to hear and the plate looks nice!

I was going to wait a bit for a sale/discount to offset my situation after the #pelfreybiltfailure but I've got a trip doing the PNW coming up. I would rather armor up before rather than risk it that far from home.

They posted in the pelfreybilt bankruptcy thread. They are now extending a discount to anyone affected by the bankruptcy for skid plates. Its hard keeping up with that thread so I'm just trying to help those affected by linking this.

Heads up that if you order a 2nd gen Tacoma skid, you will get a 3rd gen. They no longer make the smooth bottom 2nd gen skids. Would have been nice to know before paying for, waiting for, and then driving to go pick up. I would have gone with a different brand had I known this. Oh well. The sliders look nice at-least.

You mean the front IFS skid now has that bump for whatever it is and the access panel?

Correct. Story goes - Bump is for the front diff, reason it is there is so the entire skid can be closer to the truck allowing "more ground clearance." This brings the skid very close (mm or two) to the diff brackets if you have a diff drop, not super stoked on this. My understanding is the entire skid on the old design would be at the same elevation as the bump. I think I am going to add some washers to give a bigger gap between the diff brackets and the skid.

I dunno, not 100% satisfied, but not dissatisfied either. It's on, looks good, and appears that it will do it's job. "It's the principal, man."

I don't have a dif drop, so its not as much of an issue. I'd like it flat personally, but I can easily understand why they made it the way they did.
