I took the wheel off and pulled the alternator through the wheel well. Plus I found it easier to get to some of the bolts this way

I had to pull it through the wheel well too. I had to remove the fan and shroud though in order to move the compressor enough to get to the bolts.

The compressor bolts are a huge pita

Does anyone have part numbers for new bolts/shields for 36173?

Want to replace #8, #9 & #10 in diagram for pulleys.

I am going to do my belt and three idler pulleys for the first time this weekend. 130K on my truck.

At 200k I'll probably do the belt tensioner assembly but it sounds like that might be worth paying the stealership to do for me. Maybe have them do the water pump and thermostat at the same time.

I don’t believe there is an exact pulley, that’s why some people just replace the bearing in the tension pulley. The lower idler will work but it’s slightly larger which makes me reluctant to use it.

I did the belt and three idlers. Easy and fun job! Bando belt is good to go!

Hope it works because the pic shows a bearing with a 12mm ID; however the V6 Tacoma tensioner requires a 17mm ID bearing. I'm pretty sure that's not an authentic Koyo bearing. It's real easy for the Chinese to make fake rubber covers.

The Chinese would never steal from another nation!!

J/K, yeah you're prolly right. I'll post pics when they get here. I'll be happy if I can press out the fake bearings and press in the correct Japanese bearings and have it work. Otherwise I'm out $20, sucks but not the end of the world.

@TheDevilYouLove After zooming in on the pic and seeing the word "DOUBLE" on the pulley, that is the pulley for Idler #1, the one next to the AC. Hopefully, the part they ship is the correct one. The description does say it's direct replacement for the Febest 0187-GRJ200, which I have and can attest it has the correct size bearing.

Is that a fit for the lower idler? It’s not a tensioner pulley for sure. :annoyed:

Why do you say that? Is there something different about tension pulleys? I think this would work but obviously it’s not Toyota quality.

ETA: According to Amazon, the Gates lower idler pulley (36174) is 70mm in diameter and so is this ebay pulley. So maybe this is the lower idler?
