    trying to diagnose my truck.

AC blows fine, no issues there. But when I hit the recirculating button the fan under the passenger seat doesn’t kick on. My analysis was the motor died because it was making a humming for a while.

I just dropped off for an oil change and explained the problem and they thought it was a servo under the dashboard controlling the fan going on and off and that if the blower motor died I wouldn’t have any AC.

Has anyone had this happen? I tried to search and looked at the blower motor tab but I didn’t find anything definitive.

Simply turning on or off the “recirc” button isn’t supposed to turn on the blower motor... unless I’m misunderstanding your issue.

That does answer my question. So what is supposed to happen?

I have AC it blows fine, nothing happens when I hit recirc. The blower motor under the passenger seat appears to have stopped running. My assumption was when hitting the recirc button that motor kicked on and pulled air up through the passenger foot area and through the filter in the glove box back into the cabin.

If that isn't the purpose of the fan what is?

Recirculation is using the air that is inside the cabin, fresh air draws it from outside, has nothing to do with the fan.

Not under the seat, sorry if I misspoke. It’s under the glove box where the passengers feet are.

That is correct, what I am trying to figure out is what happens mechanically when that button is pressed. Because when I press the button nothing happens. Where previously it did, hitting recirculation increased the volume of air coming out of the vents. I suspect my Blower Motor broke and that is why the volume doesn't increase anymore.

Post 2, pics 4 and 5. That flap closes to shut off outside air.

IF you have the AC on the coldest setting and the blower on the highest speed, the blower speed may kick up a tick or two. In older vehicles there was a 'max air' setting. It's still there, but just not labeled.

I suspect the settings instructions might be in the owners manual.

Thank you that is exactly what I was looking for. That eliminates my thought abbout the motor. I think I am going to have to run it with the glove box out and see what exactly is happening.

If you have Automatic Climate Controls the fan speed will change without you doing anything, maybe you could have mistaken that for the Recirculate button.

Sounds more like the servo to me, or a bad connection. Make sure everything is still plugged in while looking under the dash.
