Hmmmm. Well how long do you want? Also do you want a thicker fiberglass one that you see a lot of people with or do you want a thin wire one like mine?

Which would you recommend? I'd prefer it to not extend over the height of my bed rack to keep it more protected from those scary branches .... as long as having a shorter one (antenna) wouldn't hurt the range too much.

Well the beauty of the wire one like mine is it’s so flexible that the branches don’t matter! If you were to go wire, it’d be the same set up as mine. 4’ whip hard mounted on your bedrack right behind the cab. You’d just have to drill a 3/4” hole center of a bed rack cross bar.

And you wouldn’t have to leave it on all the time. It’s very easy to unscrew the antenna and screw on a plastic cap. I only put my antennas on for wheeling. This set up would give you the best range.

If you went fiberglass antenna, a 4’ would extend about 1’ above the bed rack, but it’d be mounted on a spring so bumping it on a low hanging branch wouldn’t be an issue at all.

I agree with the 4' as well...max length without smacking all sorts of shit. I have a 5' one that is so heavy that if flops itself loose a lot on trail. The cool thing though is that as long as Im in relative line of sight of folks my radio works without the antenna in which Im sure would be the case for whatever one that Boogie selects.

I’d be worried about what your SWR is without an antenna, and potentially frying your radio. When I had a 5’ I had this spring. It’s super heavy duty and could handle the weight, would recommend.

Yeah the 4' thin wire would work. Looks like I have a perfect spot to drill in the center of my rack near the cab:

Yea I already got that spring...it helps to contour the antenna, but also makes it really flop around.

What’s nice is it’s cheaper too. No need for a spring and no need for an antenna stud. Just need these two things.

    Browning BR-140 CB Land... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0043I6FJA?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

Browning WSPBR1015 Enclosed Nmo 3/4 Hole Mount https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00BLCLUJ6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_Hn1UBb1SBZ4BH

And one of these if you want to take your antenna off. Don’t want to leave the NMO mount exposed.

Tram 1290 Rain Radio Antenna Cap https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00474A1M2/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_Xn1UBbCX8G1Q3

You don’t need the 18’ coax that’s at the bottom of the list. Other than that, you got it! And you will need a step bit to drill the hole if you don’t already have one.

I've got the step bit already. So do I need a shorter coax or I don't need one at all?

The browning NMO hole mount thing is the coax cable and antenna mount all in one.

So true. There’s always SOMETHING that needs to be done. Right now I need to replace the bushings on my coilovers and now reboot my drivers side CV axle.
