So much for all the worthless gimmicks these trucks come with,if the would of had a heavy grill hanging off the front,he would of had a bent frame where it attaches and a totaled truck for sure.

Like someone mentioned, see if you can cut a deal with the insurance company for an offroad bumper instead of the OEM one. It will save the insurance company money if it happens again because the damage will be less.

Yeah, the TSS has worked before. Nothing this time and no airbags either was concerning. Popped up the hill and had about 6 feet, was going about 40 MPH the TSS didn't even help with "extra" breaking force. It was pitch dark night with no moon and cloud cover. We have deer hear all the time they just dart out here and there. The Elk send out a "crossing guard" and he stands in road while others cross. They live mainly on two large private ranches and the road is between them. It was the 1st time I've seen them this year.

Hope your friend is ok? Very lucky all said. I've got a 2000 BMW M coupe that the roof is lower than my chest. I tend to drive it much faster, it would have been ugly if not fatal.

If you walk away from an accident where the airbags didn't deploy, be glad the airbags didn't deploy.

The g-forces simply weren't high enough to indicate a need for the airbags. If your head slammed into the steering wheel and you required a trip to the ER and the airbags never went off, then and only then do you have a problem.

It was early morning and dark. Came over a small hill and on the other side were three horses. He hit one of them. It was right in front of a fire station so they were there quickly. He had no injuries. An officer had to shoot the horse. Shoved the motor right off the mounts and into the firewall. $34,000 in damages so it was totaled. Later that morning, a lady called the police to say that her horses got out and wanted to see if they had had any reports. They told her the had found her horses. Since it was not an open range, the police said she would be cited. I think his insurance company went after her.

Had it been a small car, like yours, it could have killed someone.

    Glad you're ok OP.
+1 to upgrading your bumper. If I saw deer / elk more often I would get an ARB in a heartbeat.

Well it's been a couple of months since I hit the elk. Then things got "interesting". The body shop was welding inner fender to the firewall and caught the interior on fire. Luckily this resulted on the body shop's insurance totaling the vehicle.
The good part was despite all the hassle, the shop's liability insurance treated it as a new vehicle (it only had 3 k miles) and then the shop wrote out a check to cover the shortfall between what the insurance covered and what I paid to the dollar for the vehicle. So, I just picked up a 2019 Calvary Blue and upgraded to a premium.
