Today is national pulled pork day. My butt is in the freezer so I suppose I won't be celebrating.

I've got a problem when I go to the store. I don't bring a list and I let what is on sale dictate what I buy. I've got too much meat at the moment.

I finally found some Boston butts on sale for $.99/lb. I got some funny looks when I went to check out with two 10lb butts, 3lbs of bacon, and 2lbs of sausage. We’ll be eating good at poker night tomorrow!

Sadly no pics after this one, and I know they don't look like much here either, but these were some of the best rib eye's I've ever done. These one's got covered in Montreal Steak seasoning about an hour before they went on the grill.

Thanks to my new Thermapop it was a perfect rare/medium rare. I left the wife’s on for an extra minute or so. She doesn’t like them quite as red as I do.

Check your Costco today. I went Thursday evening and they had porterhouse steaks for $6.99/lb PLUS take an extra $7.50 off the package. USDA Choice, but I found some with nice marbling. There are two per package and they are HUGE. The pack I got was $32, so just over 2lbs per steak. Rang up for $24.50, so just over $5/lb.

I'll get a pic today. I definitely prefer ribeyes, but at that price and cut that thick, I'm going back to buy 4 more packs.

Hey what about the rest of us?! :p

Last month I picked up a 2 pack of those at our Costco, about the same price. They were really great for Choice grade and a break from Ribeye and Capsteak. One of the butchers happened to come out as I was going through them and he said they have only had them 4 times since he has worked there. Hope they start coming out more often, they were outstanding IMO and well worth it. Shit now that I think about it only ate one and the other is still someplace in the freezer. Capsteak thawing for today but there is always tomorrow. But tempted to make a Costco run and check mine here now.

Costco was out of porterhouses :(. I deeply regret getting just the one pack.

Seasoned one up for tomorrow. Heavy pour of bourbon for reference

    Only because they're local-ish. ;)

@Misplaced Nebraskan posted about those pork bellies. I went shortly thereafter and we had the same deal. Bought 45 pounds worth .

Quite remiss for missing out on loading up on porterhouses, though.

I hope my pics inspired you. You’ll get a better sear than me. That one looks like a winner. When I brought the two home from my local store, wife said I should have bought more. After eating them, I should have bought all of them.
