    Hey guys,

New in the forums. I have a '99 pre-runner taco 3.4l w/ nearly 260k and I'm also new in the Austin area to where I could find a reputable Toyota mechanic. Thanks in advance!

One of only two people i'd let work on my truck besides myself, and i'll only take it to the other shop if he's busy

Speaking of which... I think I might need a date with ya @Texoma. My halos (most important part of my truck) have been acting up. But ya know how shit I am at wiring. Shouldn't take long, I think I know the area(ish) it's coming from.

Thanks for the tip on your resident expert! My truck is been thru hell in back traveling from the I-10 corridor on either sides of the coast and climbed as high as Pike's Peak. And it has been good to me over the years and I want to restore it to it's former glory starting with the engine. And I'll get in touch with @Texoma thru direct message. Again if you know more about restoring tacomas from paint jobs to reupholstered interiors please don't hesitate to direct me to the right person for the job.

What about lifting it an throwing some armor on it after she’s in top running shape?

I've gotten pretty good at tearing down and reassembling the 3.4L

@Texoma You may be familiar with breaking down to get to the cylinders and I've already had it serviced for misfiring and cost me a leg to replace cylinder 1 and they wanted the arm also to get cylinder 2 or 3 to replace because of the carbon build up. The shop which will go unnamed brought it to my attention at the time and wanted me to take action since they've already broken it down, but I didn't have it to fork out so they've got it back to me and was working fine for a few months and the pinging and knocking crept back into my daily commute. So that is the main problem for right now that I would like for your capable hands to work your magic on. Any other problems that come may come up is secondary on my agenda.
