    I’m assuming, from what I can find, that this unit can only be used with a kenwood head unit. And won’t work standalone?

    It's right there on the box cover. Says it only works with a kenwood reciever. Too bad, I was going to have you bring it to me at the Xfinitity center Slayer show next Saturday. Glws.
