I'd say you're right on for store bought rubs/sauces. I do a keto friendly dry rub for most things I smoke and I've made home made bbq sauces before but they're probably not all keto friendly. I use blueberries, raspberries or blackberries as the sweetener. Fruit sugar is still sugar so I'd guess not super keto friendly.

Just depends on how much you use I guess.
Plus its not just the sugar but any tomato bases tend to be very high in carbs just from the tomatoes.

You are reminding me why I quit keto lol

I was heart broken I couldn’t have my chili anymore just because of the carbs in the tomatoes .

It’s the perfect drink, IMO. Delicious, won’t kill you and the tea has a little bit of caffeine.

I buy Simply Lemonade. It does have cane sugar. But is not the nasty HFCS that’s basically indigestible. I mix it with Red Diamond tea.

Years ago, I watched this video on YouTube. The guy breaks down HGCS so a regular joe like me can understand. Cant find the video, but it was informative.
    Thanks for the advice.

I can pretty much stop eating tacos (shells/tortillas), chips, sandwiches or anything with bread and lose weight. Maybe its not full-on keto, but the Macchiatos are mostly a Friday and Saturday thing and the 50/50 is much less sugar than a soda. Brisket is without any sauce. Straight from the smoker.

Not a bad BBQ sauce. Giant also carries it. Great job with the weight loss! Hoping for 199 in ‘18!

I do Keto every couple of months once my beer obsession starts to move the notch in my belt too wide

I do what I call consider “loose Keto”

No booze Sunday-Thursday. Friday and Saturday is for low carb beer or straight liquor . Sunday I fast 24+hrs to throw me back into “Keto”. Lots of eggs, spinach, broccoli, cauliflower mash, cheese, coconut oil, steak, bacon, and pork skins, etc. About a 1.5 gallons of water a day too.

Typically see a 15-20 pound swing in a month, roughly a pound a night. I do 14 hours of intermittent fasting as well, likely the reason for the significant weight loss.

Insta pot, air fryer, and my barrel smoker have made Keto fun an easy.

Only diet I’ve ever enjoyed and been able to sustain. Obviously fall off the wagon every time the wife buys Hagen daaz coffee ice cream or makes her cheescake.

I fell off the wagon for a couple weeks, starting when my wife made her Tres Leches cake. Anyways, I managed to stay flat and did not gain. Started back on my previous habits on Monday and I’ve lost another three pounds this week.

    Start 196.2
    Current 183.8
    Goal 170.0

The BMI charts say I should be at 143, but I think that’s some BS!

BMI is not a scale people should be using.

Body fat percentage is better but most people will struggle to determine that number and its hard to accurately calculate it.

Unless you are 5’4” I think 143 as a weight is BS.

I’m 5’9”, 151 and roughly 9% BF and I feel like a cancer patient. Lol

    ————————————-

I’ve been keeping the carbs under 100g per day. I’m back to a regular lifting routine.
My goal is 165 and maintin my BF around 10%.
I’m not losing any more weight which is good and I haven’t gotten sick in a couple of weeks so yay me.

Docs said ileitis from stress most likely causing my issues. I need to avoid all things processed and continue to work on lowering my stress levels.

Keeping the carb levels down has really helped. But not sure full keto is anything I’ll do again.

Rad dude... glad to hear. keep it up!

    5 months in for me.

200.6 lb today . Saw 197lbs on the scale after at 36hr fast couple days ago. Pretty much quit tracking altogether some days I'm in the 25 to 30 carb range but still feeling great. Also started doing p90x3 3 weeks ago (started 4 week today). It's super weird waking up at 5:30am every morning with no alarm and just getting up doing it... Goal is to complete program for once (I've gotten half way through a few times now and fallen off the wagon) and then hit the weights and add some muscle. Stay motivated my friends! :dancingbacon:

It’s been 10 plus months of successful Keto for my wife and I. We only cheated on our summer vacation but we both agreed from this point on holiday dinners will be keto free.

That's some dedication! I just won't let myself give up mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie on Thanksgiving. I love my Thanksgiving meal too much.

I'm on my second keto stint of the year. First went a few months and I dropped about 20 pounds. I got off keto and only put back on about 2 lbs. That had gone well until about a month ago when I saw the weight ticking upwards. Ended up about 7 pounds over where I was when I stopped keto originally (had two really bad weeks of eating).

Back on now and have lost about 11 lbs down to 211. Goal, like a couple of others, is to get down to 199 lbs.

I'm in the middle of training for a half-marathon, too. The reduced caloric and carbohydrate intake has presented a bit of an issue on some longer runs, so I'm working on the right balance. I can't quite get to where I'm able to sustain 8+ miles on just burning fat energy, so I may look at introducing more carbs the day before my long runs.

For breakfast, I've just discovered Quest bars (sorry if that's already been mentioned in here!). The Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough flavor is pretty good. 21g of carbs, but 14g of fiber and 3g of erythritol, so the net carbs are just 4g. 9g of fat as well (0g trans fat). Does the trick in the mornings for me.

Thanks. I can be quite stubborn when I set my mind to something. My wife calls me the Keto Nazi lol. Lack of carbs can make endurance activities hard. I think the key will be to introduce “quality” carbs to help get you through those runs.
