    Why not make your own?

The square tube is cheap and the snaps can be purchased at any apolstery shop?

Edit:. I had this backwards. Disregard.

I wish I had a CM and I already have .ST for my Tundra DC.

    I hope so too.

A big part of me wants to know how the 2 different tops could get separate from their bases. Please follow up.

Well the bed rails are separate from the canopy/canopy frame. They come together with 2 simple pins mounted to the bed rail.

Created an account on a Tundra forum to hopefully try and get at least some of my money back if this guy doesn't act like a man and give me my money back.

I'm thinking he lied to you. I think it is not coincidence that someone called softopper last week with the identical question.

I hope he gets your end of the deal straight, that would suck to be out a few hundred bucks because of some prick.

I agree, I think he knew exactly what he was doing.

His (2) Instagram names are @gsnell & @snellinggaret. He hasn't responded to my request for my money back. I'll let you guys know what he ends up doing.

I was waffling for a while on the whole black vs. gray. In the end, I went with the black one.

Ok guys, so the kid is refusing to give me my money back. He admitted to knowing what he sold me was not accurate to his description, but can't give my money back as "he's already spent it." This is the exact type of person you don't want in your community, so I'm doing all I can to make sure everyone knows who this punk is.

I purchased the ST through the instrgram account @OverlandMarket, and Drew 9site admin) has gone above and beyond to help with the situation. I posted a full write up on the overlandmaket blog (https://drewdaytoday.discussion.com...garet-softopper-scamer-9883689?pid=1305817439) which I posted below.

I'm going to purchase Tundra bed rails for the ST and sell it to someone with correct application.

@Gsnell sold me a Softopper that he said for a 2nd gen shortbed. I asked tones of questions he said time & time again that this was a very slightly used Softopper for a Tacoma and provided this photo. Garret owns a white truck but the pic he sent was of a MGM colored truck. He told me he never got pics of the topper on his truck but that was a pic of the topper on his buddies truck.

I met up with Garet and purchased his softopper for $400. When I got home to install the top, something clearly wasn’t right. The softopper not only didn’t fit the truck but the bedrail mounts didn’t match the canopy.
Garret insisted that the canopy fit perfectly. I contacted the manufacturer directly to identify if there was some kind of problem.

As soon as softopper told me that someone else had the same problem and sent me a pic that had a white Tacoma (Same as Garett’s) I knew there was a major problem. I hit up garet and told him that he did not sell me what I agreed to buy and asked for my $400 back.

heres some of the communication between Garet and I where he lies about the application of the topper

    [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Garret has blocked me from all communication.and has not responded to Overland Markets request to do the right thing and return my money.

here are two of Garret’s accounts. Please be careful and don’t let this kid steal anyone else’s money [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Man I wish I was closer. I'd by the ST off you and fab my own rails. I've had lots of peeps around here with CM Tundras commenting on how much they like my double cab tundra Soft Topper.

I think I might try to sleep in the bed this weekend. It's planned on rain one day so I will pick up some sealer.

What are y'all tips for softopper camping? Never slept under a topper before.

It's the same as sleeping under a rigid cap.

They are cold when it's cold and hot when it's hot.

Only difference is you have to flip the back up on top of the ST when you need to get out to throw a whizz.

I'll just quote myself from before :anonymous: it's a step up from a tent for sure, not quite as good as a fiberglass shell.

Any tips on defrosting/de-icing the vinyl windows to minimize damage?

Maybe do like I used to in my heaterless VW baja bug. I just rubbed my hands together to get them nice and warm and then placed them on the windshield. Do this several times and then the glass has melted the frost enough to use the wipers for the rest. I would imagine that once you put a pair of warm hands on your vinyl window a few times, it will continue to thaw out. If that doesn't work, maybe keep a small portable LP heater handy to blow warm air at them instead.

I actually have thought of carrying around a small LP heater in the bed just to get the initial defrost taken care of. Just wondering what others do if the vinyl windows are iced up. When I had my jeep I just had to wait until the defrost/heat reach the back windows and frosted them out. I think if I try to wait for that to happen with the softopper it could be a while, unless I run duct work from the back sliding window into the bed of the truck :p.

If you have the Softopper with just the front and rear windows, and they are iced up, just make a day of driving forward. Use your mirrors and rear camera if you need to back up.

I think there are also some cheap 300W air dryers out there that should work in the 400W plug in the bed (if you have one in your truck).

No 400W outlet in the bed. One of the other reasons for wanting to defrost/de-ice is to minimize damage if I need to lift the rear window to access the bed. I'm sure as winter hits I will figure out something that works. I just figured I would see if anyone has any tips that they have picked up.
