Help me select tires...

Yeah I know, another tire thread. But, you all are much more knowledgeable than I am so I come here looking for your input. I'll be replacing my crappy OEM tires with an AT tire in the next month. Here's how my truck is used:

• Size 265/65 R17 or 265/70 R17 - I'm leaning towards the 265/70 R17 but would go with the smaller size if the suggested tire isn't available in the larger one.
• I don't off-road at all.
• Excellent dry, wet, snow, and ice traction.
• Pretty sure I don't need the E load range tire.

Some tires that I've been looking at:

• Hankook Dynapro ATM RF10 (suggested by Discount Tire Direct customer service)
• General Grabber AT2
• Cooper Discoverer AT3 4S
• Nitto Ridge Grappler (non-LT available in 265/65 R17)

What do you all suggest? Any of the above? Any other suggestions?

Go with the Coops or Nittos.

 

No off-roading at all? Go with the cooper at3 4s.

 

If you drive in deep snow frequently go with the Grabber AT2s

 

Bought the Hancook Dynapro ATM a few falls ago. I went up 1 size to a 265/70-17. They weigh less then stock and less then all other tires I considered. I did not loose any mileage. They are great in the snow, and unless I purposely try to get them to spin they dont.

The General Grabber was also something I was considering but got a great deal on the Hancook's and could not be happier. Will most likely replace with the same when the time comes.

 

Go with the Coopers 265/65. Just had a set of Michelin LTX M/S mounted today but if its not in your price range coopers are solid.

 

Grabber's are a good choice.........or

Falkin WP3's.......new Goodyear Ultra looks hawt..........

or............even if you don't off road.........

make it look a little badd azz............

 

Cooper AT3s did me well and lasted really long.

Had the general at2 sold them after 85k miles with 8/32nd tread left. They are heavy e load, look good

Have the hancocks now, they are quieter, paid $317 for 4 to my door after ebay and factory rebates. Great bang for your buck, not the sexiest sidewall

If the price were all the same I would get the coopers...

General Grabber ATII's. Had them on 3 Tacos and couldn't be happier. Currently they're on both of our Tacomas. I'm really happy with them. Had them on 3 other vehicles I've owned as well......

Without any off road travel at all, the Bridgestone Dueler A/T Revo 2 and Perilli Scorpion ATR tires are excellent options that in addition to @nd4spdbh's Michelin Defender recommendation. I've used both the Revo and Scorpion tires before with zero complaints.

I'm considering moving away from my KO2s to one of these three tires soon.

 

I just bought the Falken Wildpeak at3w and they are awesome. The best part is that they are like $50-$60 cheaper than the bf goodrich ko2. I don't personally know what the BF Goodrich ones are like so I can't give you a review on those. Also, my dad doesn't have a Tacoma, he drives a '91 Chevy Silverado and he always had Goodyear Wranglers on them and he just told me he switched to Falkens and that they are way quieter than any tires he's used before on any of his cars.

Your tire choices seem pretty aggressive if you are not driving offroad. As mentioned, those Michelin LtX in a non lt size will be more than ample, and Michelins are good value if you factor in tread life and cost of mounting and rebalancing.
Mounting KO2'S is the equivalent of going jogging in hiking boots; they aren't great in snow, (I have them), are heavy and will slow you down, and are noisy.
Get the lightest tire you can, your truck will feel amazing.

 

If you don’t off road at all then I’d go with the Michelin AT2. I know it’s not on your list but I had them on my second gen and they were the most well balanced tires I have ever run. The downside is they are pricey. If they are out of the range you want to spend then I would go with the Coopers. I also had these on my second gen and they are very good tires. They are not as good in the rain as the Falken Wildpeak AT3W. I chose the Falkens this time around and, like many others, am well pleased. You may want to check them out. Don’t be fooled by the lower price point, they are great tires.
