The Anchor Bar in Buffalo, NY is where the Buffalo Chicken Wings were first invented in 1964. By the early 70's it had spread through Western NY and the Twin Tiers of NY and Pa. and were pretty consistent across the board. A far cry from what they are today. Not too many years ago, but more than a few, I found out Buffalo Airport had an Anchor Bar in it. I told my family my arrival was an hour later than it was so I could stop there and have some real Buffalo style Chicken Wings.

Talk about disapointed... On the other hand my sister that lives in Buffalo was in a bar at O'Hare headed back to Buffalo and a guy sat down next to her struck up a conversation and it was Jim Kelly's brother. THE Buffalo Bills Jim Kelly brother. In the late 70's I was in the airport bar at Honolulu seeing a girl off that was headed back Stateside. All of a sudden she started freaking and said that was Willie Nelson. I went up to the bar and got us both drinks standing next to him, he was wearing a black leather jacket on the rock in the summer, and he turned and stared at me like come on say something I need to kick someones ass. I ignored him I could drive from San Diego to Upstate NY with the red veins sticking out of his face and nose from him drinking so much. I like airport bars too.

Holy chit, I've done a lot already!!

Truthfully, never been to Anchor bar, and not in a hurry to get there. In my opinion, Duff's is a great chicken wing. As you know, plenty of local pizzerias do a fantastic job. I'll say that any Buffalo wing, beats ANY "buffalo" wing!!

If you want GREAT wings in Buffalo DO NOT go to the Anchor bar. They are so busy that they make their wings ahead of time and keep them warm.... this is not good.
Bar Bill in East Aurora ( south of Buffalo) , Swannie House in downtown Buffalo, Gaberials Gate in downtown Buffalo and many more are by far way better then Anchor bar. Check this out ....

Admittedly, I don't do a lot of briskets so I am a bit perplexed as to the one I currently have in the smoker.
I'm sitting at 7 hours right now and no wrap and it's at 196°. I'm ok with the short time but wondering if it's a fluke.
