Would you consider this good fuel mileage ?? :notsure:

My 2002 DC Pre Runner with 68k original miles and a supercharged 4cyl just got 18.226mpg over a 252.8 mile interval. Out of that 252.8 miles 35 miles of city driving

As mentioned its supercharged with 4.5lbs boost , Doug Thorley Shorty Tri Y header , K&N CAI , Gibson Cat Back exh and tires are 265/70 16 load range E Toyo Open Country mud terrains

Factory rated fuel mileage of 19 city 22 highway

If you're familiar with Socal I'm up in the High Desert and have to go up/down the 4500ft Cajon Pass

    Thanks !!

I always thought that the Cajon Pass was skewing my mpg as that's a hard climb with my 4cyl . The pass is hard on my truck if there's a Santa Ana wind or NNE wind . Itll stay in 4th gear majority of the clmb

You’re even supercharged? I’m surprised how good your gas mileage is.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Sounds about average. Mileage will decrease with higher elevation.

I average 21 mpg daily driving my 3rz 5spd on 33"s and live at 4500ft. Would love to have the supercharger though.

I should add my mileage is so bad because I have the AUTO 3RZ. The Manual 3RZ will get you great gas mileage, but the A340E is just such an inefficient transmission that it's limits the power of the 3RZ significantly. As a result, I'm always pedal to the floor.

Your gear ratio definitely helps. Also the SC so you're not always pedal to the floor.

Got pics? Original TRD SC, or Magnuson?

I'm thinking of maybe regearing to 4.88 , that'll give me 400 more usable rpm

Yes I've got a TRD black case supercharger , I thought I had some pics but can't find them. I can take a couple pics tomorrow

Did it come with your truck, what's the story? Original TRD 3RZ SC's are uber rare.

I'm the 2nd owner of this truck and I know the original owner very well. The original owner had Toyota of Cerritos install the supercharger and K&N CAI after he bought the truck new in 2002

No kidding, never heard of a dealer installing an aftermarket CAI.

Huh I thougt you 4cyl guys got better mileage. Props on the rarity of a 4cyl S/C- what was the engine management solution for that kit? Also if you want an "MPG" mode I'll let you know how my S/C bypass mod goes- because partial throttle boost, any boost, eats up those MPGs bad.
