Honestly I just use my ground pad, slide it inside the hammock, sleeping bag on top of that. If its gonna be real cold, I bring an extra blanket too.

Nice! Great pics. Fortunately on the bike, weight isn't as much of an issue as space, and my backpacking days are way behind me (too many years abusing my body).

I picked up a demo Explorer Deluxe Asym zip with rain fly for $90. It supposedly has a 1/4 inch rip in the fly that was glue repaired. They described it as an 8/10. So for that price I figured I couldn't go wrong.

It'll beat hauling and setting up my REI Half Dome +. Great ground tent but I have the feeling the hammock is going to work out great once I master sleeping on the diagonal.

a plus to hammocks is that you can set them up anywhere over rocks, water (as Cuffs pic demonstrates), even Cactus.

I have thought about doing that instead of getting an underquilt. At least until I start going more frequently.

Pads are good for insulation. If you can keep them under you. You move-it moves.

Not having the time is the story of my life.

If you get to use it let us know how it works out. I’m still considering getting one.

Were planning on going this weekend! No underquilt yet. I’ll just use a sleeping pad this time. I’ll get to use the Noah’s tarp for the first time. Hopefully the 2 of us fit under the tarp just fine.

Idk, I've been sleeping in a hammock for a while now. And I can never sleep on my stomach. I end up sleeping ok on my side, but the stomach has never worked for me.
