Hi everyone, I’m new to this forum. I’m getting my frame replaced and along with that I wanted to do a few other things. But the pricing for what they want to charge me seems too high...can you all give me your $0.02?

Bredemann Toyota in Park Ridge IL is doing the work.

    - Power steering rack and pressure line $1805 plus tax
    - Upper control arms $870 plus tax
    - I’m supplying my own front and rear shocks and front springs (purchased new from a 2018 Tacoma Offroad) but the rep said they woul charge me $220 to install wtf?
    - Outer tie-rods $115.00 plus tax
    - Thermostat $224
    - Water pump $435
    - Fuel Straps $156
    - Upper & lower radiator hoses $553
    - Front sway bar links $330
    - Engine & Trans mounts $370
    - Intermediate shaft $280 (Can the steering shaft seal also be checked?)
    - Body bushings & mounts $580
    - Fan clutch & pulley $890

Here’s some pics of my truck

    - Power steering rack and pressure line $1805 plus tax (that does sound really steep)
    - Upper control arms $870 plus tax (maybe a bit steep)
    - I’m supplying my own front and rear shocks and front springs (purchased new from a 2018 Tacoma Offroad) but the rep said they woul charge me $220 to install wtf? (That seems acceptable for labour)
    - Outer tie-rods $115.00 plus tax (probably acceptable)
    - Thermostat $224 (seems steep)
    - Water pump $435 (acceptable)
    - Fuel Straps $156 (I guess so)
    - Upper & lower radiator hoses $553 (no freakin’ way)
    - Front sway bar links $330 (yeah that’s ok)
    - Engine & Trans mounts $370 (yeah)
    - Intermediate shaft $280 (Can the steering shaft seal also be checked?) (not sure on that)
    - Body bushings & mounts $580 (that’s acceptable)
    - Fan clutch & pulley $890 (seems steep)

A lot of this stuff you can do over the course of a couple of weekends for a fraction of the price even using OEM parts.

Assuming your frame is being replaced under warranty, it sounds like they want to recoup some profit from you because it's gonna be hell for them to replace the frame. Keep in mind too, a lot of that equipment is going to be removed or otherwise in an easy to access position when they actually remove everything to replace the frame. You bet your ass though they're overlooking that fact when pricing this ancillary work.

Your rear shocks and front struts get moved anyway. Charge should be $0. Unless, you really are bringing them springs (instead of assembled struts), then $220 is in line. Tie rod ends, fuel tank straps and ISS are about the same as mine where.

Seems pretty pricey across the board.

Might be worth calling around to other dealers in the area. I'm sure they would be happy to have the work.

Mine was done in schaumburg and i have no major complaints

Those prices seem high but dealer work with OEM parts is always expensive. Dealers make a profit doing frame replacements so honest ones aren't going to nickel and dime you for extra work. Mine was great and didn't charge me for anything extra or try to recommend other repairs. They didn't charge me any labor for installing my lift kit because they had take everything apart anyway and I provided them with assembled coils/shocks. They even credited me for an earlier coolant flush because they had to drain the coolant anyway to do the swap.

Thanks for the replies everyone....I appreciate the input. Advisor modified a bunch of the prices claiming he didnt "pay attention" that the full labor rate was being applied to some of the heavy work even though it was already part of the frame recall. They advised me that the power steering rack OEM is on national backorder and he would be using a aftermarket. I'll see how much the price goes down for that one. $1800 initially seemed very steep to me given that it's being taken off and reassembled as part of the frame work.

Your input is greatly appreciated. Still working my way on discounting the P/S rack work. I'll let you guys know how it goes. Figured out the advisor was trying to give me the run around thinking I had zero knowledge of cars and repair work....boy was he wrong....can't blame the guy for trying...I got a cheaper price on the steering rack from their parts department and showed him a copy of the price.....he was at a loss of words...completely went mute like he was born that way...

Anything related to the frame recall service should cost $0. That's according to the service manager at the Toyota Dealership this recently replaced my frame.

They virtually disassemble the entire truck (except the motor & cab / interior) so that sounds like someone's trying to meet some sales goals here... I'll pull together some photos shortly...
