Anyone tested this design on a plasma table yet?
I'd love to build a set one of these days. I just haven't had the time to focus on cutting and bending in one sitting.

Put this on the truck this past weekend needs some tweaking. Holes did not line up right probably because I changed the length and angle of the front drop a bit. Working on adjusting it maybe will have it right this weekend for finalization.

Missed my calling for coroplast art....LOL

    I haven't yet.

I have the steel at home, but work has just kept me away from hobbies the past month.

Hopefully soon. Can't seem to find anyone who can plasma table it for a decent amount, so it will probably be old school cut out with wheels and blades.

A sheet metal shop would be confused by your angular dimensions. They want to know how far to bend, not what the angle of the metal is. See my dimensions in red.....

Thanks, didn't think of it that way when I was working on it.
When I have some time I'll update the files so a fab shop can read it easier.

A few audio upgrades, tinted windows, remote start because it f'n hot in Texas! 6in Fabtech DB lift, 17x9 Fuel Trophy wheels, 315/70/17 Duratracs,BAMF 80in sliders w/kickout, Prinsu cab rack w/30in Heretic light bar, custom bedside decals, custom hi-lift jack brackets, US Offroad front bumper w/winch, bed rack with RTT, CB, Short wave base station, Ultra gauge, color matched grille surround, an ungodly amount of recover gear, ARB fridge, hood struts, RotoPax, traction pads.
Glad to see so many making their own skids. It's too easy to pay someone else to do it.

I would like to make a suggestion though.

Think about not welding your rear cross member to the transfer skid. It makes it much easier to remove when you need to.

    :hattip:

I know this is an older post, but I'm curious how you replaced the "wimpy" stock rear mounts that you removed.

If you're referring to post #153 of that thread, I saw that, I was just having trouble visualizing it.

Look at the factory mount location. Imagine a full rectangular plate filling the open void in the crossmember instead of the factory tack welded strip spanning it. The replacement likely has 6-7 inches of weld.

One of my old trucks I made the skid plate from a 55 gl abs drum with a steel tube frame behind it. Before I mounted it I took an axe to it, that bounced off, 20 gauge bird shot point blank bounced off (that was scary) , it wasn't till i took a spitting maul to it that I damaged it.

I have not been able to work on this for quite some time now. Have the steel at the house, but work has kept me so busy when I'm home it is family time. Have some downtime over Christmas might be able to work on it.

I'm guessing the hole in the middle is for oil? Looks a little small to fit a wrench in and not get oil all over the top side of the pan. Or do you have a fumoto valve and hose?
