If he hasn't prior to a few months ago then he won't be able to until they start allowing applications for 2019.

Sounds like you were at Kaena point, but did not go pass the gate entrance to get into the state park. You need to fill out an online form to obtain a colored decal that you stick to your truck. There's a gate with a code (that you retrieve online) which allows you entrance/exit into the state park.

As mentioned above in this thread, I do not believe they are issuing permits for 2018 so you will need to wait for the 2019 enrollment to come out.

You don’t have to if you don’t need to go through the gate. Create an account on the Hawaii.gov website if you want access to the online form when it becomes available.

Not legally, to my knowledge. Ka’ena point really isn’t meant for off-roading either as you’re supposed to stay on designated paths once you are in the park to get to fishing/swimming spots. Oahu is pretty strict compared to the other islands, I think.

I take my 2010 four by manual out there and have never been stuck. Stock all over, no lift, stock tires (goodrench) and never been stuck. It's great. I really wish I had some tw members around but always made it through. No need for lift or tires for a good time. You can do it

That sand is super, super soft and deep at Yokohamas (that's where it looks like your at). Chances of getting buried there while all stock is at least 90% :popcorn:o_O:thumbsup::D

I thought they only opened 2019 applications on 11/15/2018? At least that’s when I received a email notification from Holly stating that the app is now available. I submitted my renewal on 11/15 right after receiving the email and I received my permit/sticker in the mail today.
