Blower Motor Resistor Connector

So, a few months ago I noticed that my blower motor would only blow on the high setting. So I asked around the shop and was told to change my resistor. So I did and it worked for about a month and now is back to the way it was before changing the resistor. Upon using some common sense and feeling around the wire for any bare spots I noticed that if I pushed one of the wires into the connectors the motor ran fine, and like it was supposed to. So I removed the connector to see this: And I was going to ask if anyone on here knows how to get that pin to release so I can pull it out and clean it and give it a little bend so it'll connect better.

The proper fix is to replace the connector and the resistor at the same time.

 

Don't bother doing that. Tweak the terminals on the other side so that they are not like this - - - - rather like this instead / / / / make sense?

The reason these resistors fail and the plugs burn up is due to poor contact which arcs over time and causes excessive heat. By tweaking the pins the way I highlighted above it provides a solid constant connection and you should no longer have any issues from here on out.

 

I had this same issue a couple months ago. I bought an OEM replacement connector pigtail and resistor kit on Amazon. I spliced the new connector in and installed the new resistor and everything has been fine. You can order just the connector pigtail also if you search the part number below
