Saw this a few weeks ago at a local trail. I think driver was okay, but how the hell do you roll this back over?

Drag it downhill with a winch until it gets to a flat spot and then roll it back over.

Winch from a truck positioned off the left to the driver’s side frame rail (top right in picture). Once it’s back upright keep tension on it to prevent it from rolling back over while slowly driving forward and right down the slope.

Sheeeeesh, seems like anyway you go about it you'll inevitably end up doing more damage. The ditch it's in makes it difficult. Seems like what tetten said is the most straightforward way to do it.

The drag would've been painful to watch...

^^^ This was my general idea. I would use a deadman buried off to the left side of the picture and a couple of snatch blocks. Deadman takes time and sweat, lots of people tend to get into a hurry during recoveries like this and do more damage than they need to. Also, be sure that the parking brake is set. It's hard to tell in the picture whether the trail is uphill/downhill or flat. If it's not flat I would also rig something on whichever end of the T4R is pointed uphill (front or back bumper) to keep it from rolling away as it gets into its wheels.

It was a steep up hill although the picture doesn't really show that.

Pictures usually don't :) Knowing this doesn't really change my plan, make sure that the uphill end of the T4R is secured to something solid in case it wants to start heading downhill as it rolls back upright. I just saw the picture bigger on my tablet... I would go to the frame rail up front, hopefully there's something to connect to. The winchline for righting would come from the left side of the picture and attach to the driver's side frame rail.

Dragging it is an option, but you're guaranteed to damage the vehicle. The owner would have to make the call as to whether they were ok with that. I would personally try and minimize the damage.

Ouch! That makes me sad to see a new pro like that! Or any 4runner for that matter. I bet his insurance company is gonna stick it to him!

Did he fall off the stuff to the right? That looks like the only way to get where he got. That's a nasty looking drop too

I couldn't reconstruct the scenario either. Seems like that's where it might belong if the owner let it get there.
Still wish I could help dig so I can learn something too.
