Drifter isn’t really different from a GFC as far as those builds are concerned. If you wanted to make your gfc into a camper you could. Only real difference I’ve seen is the way the bed works... drifter you can store bedding upstairs. GFC you need it elsewhere. They function the same though, so an 80/20 build in a GFC is the same really.

What did you switch to instead. And why? Just curious.

Yes yes I agree. I just meant the mentality and those folks’ goals. I agree completely.

It just seems most of those guys are looking for a completely sealed up camper.

I like that platform. It was my first interest actually. But the GFC fit my needs better.

Rocking stuff. I’m really impressed with how much cool stuff is out there.

Some of those trucks weigh less than mine. 80/20 is extremely light.

I was just reffering in general about some of the guys doing builds in the Drifters. Lots of unnecessary stuff getting built back there..wood paneling the walls..floor..birch cabinets. Thats not light weight stuff happening in there. Different strokes for different folks.

And the 80/20 looks cool. But I'd be amazed if after a few year of washboards if the screws holding it all together hadn't stripped out. Aluminum just isn't up to the task of that stuff. Im finding that out in just my aluminum floored RTT..

Put in a molle panel that is meant for a Jeep tailgate along the bulkhead. Also put a net below the permanent bed panel for bedding and clothes. I’m planning on replacing that action packer with a 80/20 chest/sleeping platform in the future.
Hoping I can get that gasket repaired before the rain hits. So stoked on this thing.F5F52E46-F0BC-4972-93E7-D547C784D928.jpg

Are you using the same net at @ace7196 ? I want to do this and may buy my net ahead of time so I can install when I pick up. What all is needed for that net install?

I ordered the net and d-rings off Amazon.
    15in x 30in PowerTye Mfg... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07C9R2SCQ?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf
FOUR 2" Diameter Black Steel... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CGXSNC0?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf
    I’m guessing it’s the same
    Stuff @ace7196 got. He seems
To be leading the charge on here with the GFC mods.
This is the Molle sheet I picked up.
Install is kind of sloppy. But it’s nice to have some essential items ready to go now.

Awesome, thank you. I will save that to my Amazon wishlist of things to order.

Do you have a better picture of the molle panel install? I like the idea of using the Cab side wall like that since its kind of wasted space (I wont have a window).

I wonder if someone could make a molle panel specific for that cab side GFC wall. One that can bolt into place.

@mesojdm could DEFINATELY. Make you a molle panel question is would it be worth his time. Maybe if we got together and ordered 10 or more? He makes some crazy Molle pattern shit now. Like a molle panel that hugs the interior roof of the rear seat of your double cab. Not to mention his other innovations. Wouldn’t hurt to bounce it off him.

He’s one of the most talented people I’ve seen

That gives me a better idea. Basically we just need a good way to keep the fabric tight. That might be the way to go, with some paracord or something similar.

I’m going to order some more d-rings and I should be able to tighten it up. Something that could bolt right to the space frame would be so much nicer. This will totally work for me though.

Material and design are not one in the same. Extrusion metal connected with machined metal blocks, fastened with self-cutting bolts rattling apart...I would consider an anomaly.
Yes, this is coming from the guy who breaks literally everything.
At the end of the day we all build our rigs to suit our own domain, terrain, and driving style. If it fails, chuck it in th fuck it bucket and try again.

maybe so. Im still not convinced aluminum can stand the test of time for what I do anyways and the way I do it. I like you seem to break just about everything..at some point.

That’s no joke. The speed bumps at some of these Malls with tear those pretty builds up! Better just use an action packer....

(This is aimed at NO ONE, I just thought it was funny)
