I am looking into these Fox coilovers and there is two types. The 2.0 series and 2.5 series and there is about a 400$ price difference. I know that the 2.0 series only goes up to 2" of lift and the 2.5 has a ex. travel option that has 3" of lift. Is there more droop in the ex. travel or is it just that extra 1" of lift?

    The 2.0 series

    And the 2.5 series:

You can also see that the 2.5 has a different setup top plate on it that is connected to a swivel? Could I just buy the 2.0 and add a 1" spacer on it to achieve 3" of total lift? Just trying to save any money possible before a droping a couple thousand in a lift kit:spending:.

The extended travel shocks have 1" more droop. You set the lift yourself my adjusting the coilovers, that doesn't have much to do with the extended travel.

I generally wouldn't advise going with a spacer to lift it further. Don't worry about the top plate design, that's just how they're made. That is not what gives the 2.5's more lift, they're just different designs.

Damn makes me want the ex. travels bad... wondering if a go fund me page is the best possible option right now.

A go fund me is in progress... And selling my dirtbikes too:sadviolin:

How do your magnaflow's sound btw? I'm picking up some headers here soon and thinking about pairing them up with a borla muffler. Not trying to have it sound like a Japanese ricer tho.

I had a friend that sold his Fox 2.5's for his 1st gen Tacoma because it was making contact with brake line that goes into the caliper.

He is not on TW, but he actually lost his brakes because it broke the fitting. He swapped to King and has not had a issue since.

I wonder how it broke the fitting? It isn't that close to the coilovers. I wonder if somehow it snagged the brake line.

King's are nice too I just think the blue would look tacky since my truck is gold.

The 2.0”s are inverted, has less dampening capabilities, are aluminum bodies, and don’t offer the lift you want. Don’t double up on a lift. You’re asking for issues. Spend a little more cash and do it right. You’re already Saving money by not going with resis or adjusters.

Sounds like a bad install or bad brake routing. If Fox had a clearance issue, we would have heard about it and likely a lawsuit. The engineers wouldn’t let that fly.

The Fox 2.5's for 95-04 Tacoma are a slightly different design than what you posted, the bottom cup is much lower on the stem and comes in contact.

Fox acknowledged that it is a problem and they were not working on a solution. I have never heard of fitment issues with any other vehicle just on the first gen Tacoma

That’s shitty. First time I’ve heard of it. I have a buddy with 2.5s on his 1st gen. I’ll have to check them out.

So your saying when I install them it will knock my brake line out of place and I call fox and demand them my money back?

Sounds like free coilovers to me haha.

This is a 2.5 coilover on a 99 4runner. Basically same design as Tacoma. The only way I can see it coming in contact is if at a full left turn it hits the brake line. Same deal on the other side with full right turn.

Sounds like a silly excuse for stainless brake lines and tundra calipers...
