    I can't seem to decide!

The drivers side of my truck has a few long scratches from a tree branch. I got them on one of the best nights of my life, driving through a corn field and I didn't see the giant branch sitting by the gate and ran up against it. Looking back, I'm not even bad. Just reminds me of a fun night.

I'm usually OCD AF about my truck, but sometimes I don't care because it's a truck.

If you love your truck and plan to keep it forever there good, adds charatcha to your vehicle and a way to remember trips.

However if your selling it a few years down the road and it's a little pinstriped. It hurts the resale value.

You can only really see them if you're looking at it for the sole purpose of finding scratches. It's one big long one, but wax pretty much covers it all up. It's the only damage on the entire truck, I wash it weekly and wax it monthly.

I'm gonna keep it for probably 4-5 more years, but I don't really care about resale that much. Maybe longer. It's seen a loooooooooot of shit in the year I've had it lol.

    Ugly.

Thats why I don’t take a machine costing several tens of thousands of dollars off road. I get out and walk.

    But thats just me.

It's a truck. It's meant to get scratched and used. With that said, keep it clean, keep it waxed, and try to avoid the brush, but it's unavoidable. I have 1000x more respect for an old beat up truck that actually gets used than I would any new clean garage queen.

    Character until detail day.....

Washing the mud off is like opening an unwanted present... I grit my teeth, is that scratch for real or just in the dirt......

I bought silver to hide light scratches..........Glad I did......... If it looks good from 5 feet away I'm ok....
But, had to replace a fender, my tailgate flew off at the dunes and somehow you can hardly tell...

Think I'm more mad about the garage spring breaking and leaving little marks than the adventure scars................

I think it says a lot about a persons character if they take care of their stuff. I don't buy that "damage/neglect is character" justification; you'd never use that same excuse if you had a toolbox full of rusty tools. I realize anything is going to get some wear and tear in the course of a normal life of use, but still... it breaks, you fix it. If not you're just letting it go to hell.

As for the poster that says he respects a worn truck more then a garage queen. I can see that point, but even more would I respect a 30 year old truck that looks like it's been loved and cared for over 30 decades.

Just my $.02. Certainly not ragging on those that go out and enjoy their trucks in the environments that they're built to take.

    Character and memories.

I'll wash and wax after trips, and I'll touch up any deep scratches that goes down to primer (anything that could turn into rust or a bigger problem later on)... but I don't sweat the small scratches and scuffs. They happened, there's not much you can do about them now, and you're probably going to get more... so might as well wear them with pride.
