Pics from our San G trip last weekend. We completed John Bull trail.

Took most of the day but had a great time. Used the winch on the gatekeeper so next time we have a goal to not use it.

Thanks @BLKTRUCK for organizing this event, @Dangerousd1987 and @Mianotti for the swag, and @erice for the awesome pics!

That’s the end goal. This is obviously not a very technical section but I’d like to get to a point where it handles a variety of terrain well enough.

I would have tried to get over this rock all day long without a winch but we had 5 trucks to make it through. Thoughts on winching over an obstacle?
    IMG_3940.jpg IMG_3941.jpg

Tim really did himself in on this line, but we had it handled. IMG_3942.jpg
@anthony250f making those rocks look small with his dirty5s. Then still needing the winch. :cookiemonster:

The "second obstacle" on the trail. Pretty sure this is where I did my driveshaft in.

So on the 13th I went and participated in a trail cleanup in Corral Canyon. The event was organized by the Forest Service and TDS and the SDORC both participated in the arrangement.

I was solo and was told to run Sidewinder trail. While I was enjoying myself and cutting the overgrown brush off the trail I walked past the rear of my truck and noticed the bolt that holds the leaf spring shackle to the hanger was sticking half way out. The nut was gone! Of course, the one time I forget my tool bag I needed it. I managed to get the bolt back into place using my Hi-Lift and a rock I found on the trail, but had no extra hardware nor any hand tools to tighten it if I did.

I made it off the trail and realized that I likely loosened the bolt to free up the rear shackle's movement but failed to check the torque before hitting the trail. Eric from @ARCHIVE recommends using the polyurethane bushing replacements to fix this issue so I ordered a set along with some spare hardware. Thanks again Eric!

Saturday I spent the day at a local junk yard and grabbed a set of 1st gen Tundra shackles. These are .5" longer than the factory Tacoma shackles and likely a little beefier being they are off a full size truck. My plan is to replace the bushings in the Tundra shackles and do a swap to prevent future issues. I'll keep the thread updated with the progress.

Making a new list for the truck "to do list." This is never ending but I might be able to knock some of it out this weekend.

-revalve shocks; I'm still not fully happy with the ride
    -gusset shock hoops
    -install HAM radio
-fluid flush: power steering, transfer case, and front diff.

Also destroyed my phone Monday night while working in the garage. Figured it was safer out of my pocket... I was wrong :anonymous: :redxfall:

Also made it out to the 14th Annual Lost Lizard Off-Road Fun Run last weened that was put on by SDORC. Was a great event and we had a good time. Trails were not too difficult unless you took the 2 difficult option lines. We stuck to the main trail since a few of the people with our group weren't up to the task.

I've only been to Superstition twice now and I was impressed by the different terrain the area has. Definitely looking forward to going back! Didn't take too many pictures, but the games were fun!

Heartbreak Ridge, 2N61. Pontiac Sluice Is another name I’ve heard the trail called but it’s more of a trail that shoots off of Heartbreak.
