Why post where people park, work, live? I can understand at a car show or whatever.
You're just making it easier for guys to go and rip them off. Post your own truck. Not everyone else's.

True but I think a better approach from him would've been "hey guys here's a suggestion: post pics of trucks in public places only and not anywhere near working places and homes" instead of his little rant. But like I said, if someone don't like something just move on yaknow

 

You’re not going to get shit ripped off your truck from a TW post. You’re going to get shit ripped off your truck because you had full overland gear loaded up parked at the Waikiki Zoo or some equally dumb nonsense.

TW has been around since early 2000s. So far there have been exactly 0 incidences where a TW members truck has been messed with due to them or others posting pictures. Not to mention the fact that if you're a member here, sooner or later you're going to be posting pictures of your truck anyways to show off mods, ask questions, talk about where you usually off road, where you will off road this weekend, where the TW meet is going to be at, or even what your usual commute is.

If you're that paranoid then lock your car, don't leave it running, park in a well lit parking lot, stay off TW, sell your truck, and buy a yaris.

Or you can also call the cops every time you see someone taking a picture in public that might include your truck in the frame because they are putting your truck at risk, become the new barbecue becky on the internet as you freak out on random people lol

 

Yeah, you're right.

There are a lot of registered members from oahu on Tw. If you see a lack of participation, its because they don't want to participate. Posting pics of others people's trucks doesn't give them that option. But yes, its a free country. A little consideration for other's privacy would be appreciated.

I'd laugh pretty hard if someone called the cops for getting a picture taken of their truck parked in a public space. Completely legal and a huge waste of police time.

 

Someone buttered the wrong side of your toast this AM, damn lol. Nothing wrong with a 'spotted' thread, almost every major area has one on this forum.

 

hopefully the cops would laugh and ignore the call, too...people get too paranoid about stuff like that. As long as someone doesn't have their hands all over my truck, I could care less if they're looking at it. 99.9% of the time they're either a fellow enthusiast or just curious about the build. My dad always told me that you should always keep your hands in your pockets when looking at another person's ride, it's the universal sign that you mean no harm.

 

Maybe it's not about the public. Maybe it's his spouse. "Yeah Honey. I wont spend anymore money on the truck. " Then she sees new rims and tires that a fellow TW member commented about...Just saying. Now he's secret is blown...
