Mobilelinkd tnc2.2. Let's me use APRS on my rig. So I can use Bluetooth now to my phone or tablet and see where everyone is on the system, frequencies they're on or whatever information they'd like to share

Ha! That's cool af!! I mean for analog system with APRS. That solves a bunch of things for people who don't want /are not sure about getting into expensive digital dual receiver radios, or already have a rig. Now, does it also send APRS messages (I'm not sure if I care about it much, just wanted to find out)? Also, while running APRS, is your radio still fully functional or do you "sacrifice" one side to run it?

By now, being a noob and all, I don't really care what they say about me(for the most part), but I'm really glad I asked you guys some questions.
I really appreciate everyone chiming in and enlightening me :hattip:

Hey, great to see all of your set ups. I've got a basic, but bomb proof station that's now been in three trucks. An Icom f-5021 commercial VHF transceiver, Larson dual band whip, and a Motorola speaker. I had an HF mobile station in my old Tundra but I can't imagine how I'd set it up in the Taco.

@m603holden @medic2230 wWhat speaker do you run on your Kenwoods for mobile use? I have a speaker for my Yaesu currently, but it is 4 ohm specced for Yaesus not the 8 ohm called for by kenwood. Kinda bummed about maybe having to get a new speaker, with like 1/4 the output wattage.

I’m new to his stuff so excuse the noob question. You have that TNC connected to a tablet over Bluetooth and you also have a HT with an audio cable going to the TNC?

Also, how do you cache the map? Is that a setting in an app on the tablet?

I’d like to map aprs and have an android tablet. My mobile rig is a yaesu ftm400xdr and so the tnc isnt accessible.

I have a TM-V71a with a data port. The Mobilelinkd device is connected to that. Through Bluetooth it's linked to my phone or tablet.

Offline maps can be used with aprsandroid and can be found here

Literally just set it up. So I'll spend the winter testing it out. I still want to get it rigged for my handheld too for satellites
