    I went the other way and was getting 14.3 mpg in the Tundra over 2.5 years. After almost 1 year I'm at 19.6 mpg with the Tacoma. Both Off Road 4x4 same roads and routines. Crazy how results can vary in different cases.

    Bought this one in late August. You were quoted from July 16. There was a nice DC next to it but I like the idea of a small V8 in a small truck.

    So it looks like TRD Off Road and TRD Sport Tundra trim actually dropped in price by over $3,000 in Canada for 2019. Nice to see. However all other trims went up slightly. TRD Pro is $63,000 staring price.

    I got my 2017 for 49k (msrp) before taxes and that was almost fully optioned out. I heard they were going up in price. Combination of tss system and steel tarrifs. Still those upgraded Fox Shocks look like a good upgrade over the Bilsteins.

    Has anyone seen the new Silverado Trail Boss? It looks like the old Rock Warrior pkg for the Tundra.

    I liked that pkg, Toyota shouldn't have nixed it when they refreshed the Tundra.

    I wanted a Tacoma for a while but knowing I was buying new and keeping for a long time I chose the Tundra because of space and comfort. If I was younger I would have gone Tacoma for a while then transitioned to the Tundra.

    The size is not a problem on our big American roads and parking lots. It even fits in my tiny garage.

    Tacoma is the best mid-size truck. Tundra is not the best full size truck. I read an article that summed it up perfectly once - it said if you're 50 and your requirement is to buy one truck for the rest of your life get a Tundra. Longevity and reliability is their strong point. If you even remotely care at all about modern drivetrains or modern conveniences and amenities, buy 3 F150s. Unfortunately the Tundra gets absolutely no love from Toyota and is a dinosaur. I honestly wonder if Toyota will kill Tundra and Sequoia rather than update them. I'm not one to keep a vehicle for over 10 years so you'd find me in a domestic if I needed a full size. My dad just bought his 5th F150 since 1980 and hasn't had any real problems with any of them.

    Or, if you're under 50 and keep your vehicles for a long time. I always look at total cost of ownership. That includes purchase price minus selling price, divided up by the number of years owned.

    If I didn't plan to keep a vehicle for longer than the standard warranty period and had monet set aside for the higher total ownership cost of buying/selling often, I might look at other options.

    I would still struggle to choose a 2019 Tundra over a 2019 F150. The bulk of the Tundra remains unchanged from 2007 and I would have a hard time not buying a low mileage used example instead. The Tundra just doesn't excite me.

    Now if I was shopping for a five year old truck, I would be searching out Tundras because of Toyota quality and reliability, and the fact that even if the Tundra wasn't taken care of, it will still outlast the F150. But if you keep a vehicle for say, 8 years, follow recommended maintenance and don't drive an excessive number miles per year I'd think the biggest cost of ownership hit you'd take is resale.

    That's actually one of the selling points to me, that the Tundra is a 10 year old design. Buying that new means it's been proven out and replacement parts, aftermarket, and diy is readily available.

    I had a few Tundras including. My. Last 2016 platinum crew. Max was a great truck but that truck would flex like crazy with. Or with out a load . I swapped up to a GMC 2500 Denali diesel , boxed frame is a huge difference .
    I'm a long time toyota guy , I just traded a F450 on a 2018. Land Cruiser .... Talk. About nice SUV ,, Its my first. 200 LC . It would have been nice if it was diesel but Tundra power. 5.7 is just fine .
    I. Would be all in if Toyota on a Diesel Tundra once Toyota gets its carp together , They have fallen behind .
    Heard they were going to put the Cummins 5.0 in the tundra but thats just stupid we can allready buy a. Titan XD if we want that .
    If they want a winner , Cummins inline 6 Dodge uses would be a huge win .

    Center counsel light, Topper w/ LED lights, JBL Sound system, Locking tailgate, Towing Package, Bed Mat
    I have both a Tundra and a Tacoma. Tacoma is a 2015 TRD Sport V6 4wd and my Tundra is a 78,000 mile 2002 4wd with a 4.7 V8 standard cab 8ft bed. 2 totally different trucks- both great trucks. Can't get what the Tundra is worth so I'm just keeping it and use it when I need the 8ft bed for hauling.

    The Gen1 Access Cabs are pretty nice, nice 60/40 fully padded rear seat, AC feeds into the rear through the console, rear windows crack open, power rear slider. Manageable length, great stock ground clearance. Smooth as silk driving, triple door seals.

    There was a Tundra look alike spotted in media camo not to long ago. Rumor is it’s the same 5.7 L engine but with the eight speed transmission out of the new Landcruiser and a heated rear differential to try and inch up fuel economy in testing. Not exactly a revolutionary change if that’s true.

    I’ve got an ‘01 SR5 Access Cab with the 6 cyl, manual transmission, roll up windows and a new frame in 2012. About 88k miles currently, our perfect farm truck. Part of me wants to build it up, aluminum flatbed, suspension and bumpers...but my wife would kill me. That truck currently owes us nothing.

    im currently looking for a truck but its between tacoma and tundra. my biggest issue is that i get more truck for the money when buying a tundra vs a tacoma. Even though i dont need it.
