Hey guys. Has anyone developed a remote start that doesn't shut off when you step on the brake? I really want to install one but I hate the fact that you have to restart the truck when you hit the brake.

Key start or push to start?

All push to start it's required. Most are wired to shut off when the door is opened. Just a minor nuisance for a luxury.

You can have them set it up to stay running but it will shut off after 15 minutes obviously. Which is far more dangerous.

    Push button start.

I was hoping someone developed a RS that would stay running once it recognized the fob was close to the truck.

Same for me, I don’t live where it super cold and I need to warm up the truck. So unless someone develops one that won’t shut off when getting in I won’t own a remote start.

Your vehicle won’t shut down when the remote start turns off while you’re driving, if there is no brake input to turn it off during take over. The vehicle ignition is already being powered by the key cycle, thus when the remote start shuts off, all the circuits still have power.

Only on HKEY. He’s right about push to start. If the door is opened it shuts down. If you sit in the car and start it via remote start app, as soon as you brake it shuts down. There is no key take over on PTS.

    Mind is 2018 model.
Just had one installed last Friday, and yes with push starters,no choice, when you open the door,it will shut off.I think in a way,as long as everything else works great,it s worth having the remote starter installed and even with that small inconvenient ,its OK and specially here in Canada with our very cold winter !
    Cheers
