TSS only works with Cruise Control on?

    My 2018 Sport does automatic braking with cruise control on. With cruise off and the TSS symbol lit it does nothing. Am I doing something wrong?

    TSS-P includes more than just adaptive cruise control. See below

    Pre-Collision System With Pedestrian Detection

    Using an in-vehicle camera and a radar sensor or a laser sensor that are designed to help detect a vehicle or a pedestrian in front of you, the Pre-Collision System 29 with Pedestrian Detection 40(PCS w/PD) is designed to help you mitigate or avoid a potential collision. If the system determines that a frontal collision is likely, it prompts you to take action using audio and visual alerts. If you notice the potential collision and apply the brakes, PCS w/PD may apply additional force using Brake Assist (BA). 30 If you don’t brake in time, it may automatically apply the brakes to reduce your speed, helping to minimize the likelihood of a frontal collision or reduce its severity.

    Lane Departure Alert
    Under certain circumstances, Lane Departure Alert (LDA) 34 is designed to detect lane departure on roads with visible lane markings. LDA is designed to activate when you’re traveling at a speed of 32 mph or higher. When you hear and see the alert, after carefully checking the road around you, you should safely direct your vehicle back to the center of your lane.

    Automatic High Beams
    Automatic High Beams (AHB) 43 are a safety system designed to help you see more clearly at night—without distracting other drivers. Designed to activate at speeds above 25 mph, AHB rely on an in-vehicle camera to help detect the headlights of oncoming vehicles and taillights of preceding vehicles, then automatically toggle between high and low beams accordingly. By using high beams more frequently, the system may allow earlier detection of pedestrians and obstacles.

    Dynamic Radar Cruise Control
    Intended for highway use and similar to “constant speed” cruise control, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC) 32 lets you drive at a preset speed. DRCC uses vehicle-to-vehicle distance control, which adjusts your speed, to help you maintain a preset distance from vehicles ahead of you that are driving at a slower speed. DRCC uses a front-grille-mounted radar and an in-vehicle camera designed to detect vehicles and their distance. If a driver is traveling slower than you, or within your preset range, DRCC will automatically slow your vehicle down without deactivating cruise control. If DRCC determines you need to slow down more, an audio and visual alert notifies you and brakes are applied. When there’s no longer a vehicle driving slower than your preset speed in front of you, DRCC will then accelerate to your preset speed.

    Anyone here know how well the AHB works? Never been in a vehicle with it ,and been pretty curious about it.

    I find that it works really well for oncoming vehicles. High beams turn off almost as soon as the other vehicle is visibile. Where it could use some improvement IMO is if you come up on a vehicle in front of you driving in the same direction - it seems slow to recognize their brake lights

    Haha, my 17 didn't have TSS. 18 I'm waiting to have delivered has it. So been doing some reading. I've never been a fan of vehicles telling me how to drive, but noticing slowly with how shit other people are on the road, maybe it isn't a completely bad idea.

    A good summary of the intent of the pre-collision system is that it may shave fractions of a second off your reaction time.

    Doesn't sound like much until you look at the physics of it. Reducing your inertia by reducing momentum could save a life.

    It's the same principal as how a seatbelt increases the time it takes to move towards the dash of the vehicle by fractions of a second, but that can dramatically affect the impulse.

    F=MA
    P=mv
    F∆t=m∆v

    I will take all the help I can get from the TSS, but standby your DSA feature.

    You totally ruined my Sunday morning by putting mathematical formulas in your post. It's way too early for this shit.
