The theory behind the sealed U-joints is that your average car buyer isn't going to check the u-joints every oil change. So if they're sealed, they last 50k miles, then you replace them. If they put grease zerks on them and unsealed them, people would only be getting 10k miles out of the u joints on brand new trucks because they didn't grease them.

That was why I was hoping for pics with a good location and maybe more details.

While watching my Sunday car shows we saw a commercial from American Powertrain. They have a campaign #savethestick. My wife actually gave me the thumbs up to put another sticker on our truck!
    F144051331.jpg
The American Powertrain is actually a separate sticker, so we just have the round one one our truck. More stuff for sale here.

    https://americanpowertrain.com/c-319898-gear-and-apparel.html

WARNING: Going through the order process for the $5 sticker, and it was a ton I shipping! Wanting the sticker, I just bit the bullet, but instead of putting them in an envelope with a stamp, they go in a box through FedEx! I do have the extra sticker I probably could be convinced to sell it to offset the cost of shipping.

I know that on my 04 the zerk fitting for the slip yoke is directly on the driveshaft, not on the joints like the rest of the zerks are. Probably be better to compare zerk locations with one of the early 2016 3rd gens that has a few...at least I'm fairly certain some models in 2016 had zerk fittings on them. Maybe someone here with one can post some pics

Interesting. The only 2016 zerks that seem to get mentioned are on the u joints themselves.

ah, yeah...I wasn't sure where they were exactly, they might not have a slip yoke one at all. The mystery continues

...could always just slather some grease by hand all over the slip yoke where the one portion of the driveshaft slides over the other, lol. That might help if it's really bad/dry, I dunno

I used to do that with my old bike, but it had boots to cover the open ends. I do have a needle fitting that could do that also. Shoot a bit down the spline and leave a bead at the end.

Just replaced the carrier bearing and the u-joint closest to the transmission. The truck shifts so smoothly now. Maybe better than new.

How many miles? And, I'm assuming the 2nd Gen in your sig, not the T4R?

    Nope.

Looks like you sweep your heel a bit while working the clutch and wore down the high spots.

Mine might be worse. There's actually a hole in the rug too.

Maybe you oughta vacuum the mats once in a while! That grit will just wear the surface.
