I would definitely say so mines a 15 in the lovely State of Saltachusetts. Get it done every year. Still looks good to me.

My buddy sprays everything so even the drivetrain looks new still.

Unrelated, but I sprayed a couple of cans on mine the day before I took it to the port to have it shipped to Europe. When I had it inspected a couple of months later, the guy said that everything looked good but there was some weird stuff on the truck. He said "a lot on front right, not much on front left, a LOT a LOT on rear left and pretty much none on rear right." I guess I did a shitty job.

Yeah i sprayed mine couple months ago to be ready for winter and i thought i had gotten it pretty thoroughly but when i checked on it a couple days ago i noticed most of it was already gone!! But i also notices certian areas there was still alot of build up of it and some areas no so much or nonexistent. So had to respray it and in fear of rust im leaning towards getting an undercoating because of how much road salt they lay around here

Mine was done mainly out of paranoia from this forum itself. Not much salt used where I'm at. Still, cheap insurance.

    That looks great!

About how much do you apply? And do you occasionally hose the undercarriage throughtout winter at all?

I have it done once a year from a local guy who suits up with a mask and spray gun. He uses a small hose on all the frame holes, and he's probably under the truck for a 1/2 hour doing it. Through the Winter I do not spray under the truck, the next thing to do is get it sprayed then travel down a very dusty road. Then it will get stuck to the Fluid Film and give it more of a barrier.

Curious if fluid film could cause salt deposits to stick to the frame?

Even if it did, there'd be a nice protective layer of sheep ball skeet to protect the metal.

Yeah, I'm quoting myself. What's this stuff made of? Some people say it smell God awful while I think it smell kind of whatever. It's no WD-40 (which I would wear as cologne if it were socially acceptable).

Lanolin oil.... it's a sheep secretion. Some can't stand the smell. I kind of like it myself

I apply it before winter every year but it's basically 100% gone by spring time. It washes off pretty easily IMO, you have to avoid powerwashing your frame and even if you don't the road spray will wash it off in a few months. It does work though, i'll apply it again this year. Two aerosol cans for the whole truck.

I've been coating the under body for 4 years since I brought the truck up from South Carolina. I have found it to be very effective. I re-coat each fall. I think it the only way to keep these trucks alive.... In fact I am thinking about doing it as a part time business to make some extra money when I retire...

Fluid Film is a great product, and I've used it with success, however I never loved that it stays sticky/wet.
I recently found MavCoat and have tried it on my coilovers. We haven't seen any salt yet, but the product went on easily and dries without being tacky or sticky. It will give anything you spray it with a matte finish.

Two cans?? For the whole truck? Wow, I mean, FluidFilm is awesome but you must be putting it on pretty thin. I bought the FF kit with the 5 gallon pail (only used about a gallon per vehicle though) and I still additionally used about 5 aerosol cans with the skinny wand after I finished with their sprayer. I always remove some factory rubber plugs and door hinge bolts to spray in all of the body/frame cavities as well as in the engine compartment. It does wash off eventually but i’ve found it lasts a lot longer on exposed parts compared to RustCheck or Krown.
