Totally understand. I work outside too.
    Gotta warm up the core.
Couple whiskey shots will have you warm in no time.

Good news.. Agreed being a pain in my ass, i got the bug to start up.

Main pain was working in a cold garage with not much spare room to move around. Wasn't getting spark other than a few random times but got it figured out.

She now runs, effing loud with no exhaust currently attached. The one it came with was cracked and ugly, I'll need to find something else.

Ordered a bunch of basic tools online from harbor freight that were on a lust pin thesamba.com so I'll have a beginner collection of stuff to get it working well.

Now need some headlights, one was cracked and I'm sure they don't put out much light. I think they make h4 adapters that work well and are inexpensive. One tail light is cracked but it'll do, same with the fender lights.

Want a skinny and tall tire, 195/65/15 is what she supposedly runs best with, not too many AT's out there, want something I can bomb down dirt roads with and not worry. Current ones have good tread but good amount of dry rot.

Also should put in better seats, these ones don't really recline and they have a lot of play in the track. Always something!

oh yeah, no signs of fluid under the engine, so hopefully the steel stick bonded to the engine case and will keep it from leaking.

    Cleaned up herbie today.

    1015181546a_HDR.jpg

Added a blue sea fuse box for adding a radio and aux lights.

Hit the rusty areas with rust converter then black paint.

    1015181642a_HDR.jpg

Found beautiful ass seats under the seat covers. They are loose as hell so might have to replace them with something sturdy.

    1015181741_HDR.jpg

Rear seat will stay out. I'll build a little platform back there

    She runs.

I need to work on electrical, I think I did not wire something correctly as the drivers side headlight is dim and the rear lights... no workie correct. I have turn signals and no running lights. Not sure about brake lights.

And shes going from 24's to 27s... Firestone Winterforce tires for $230 shipped. Not bad at all. Exhaust is on its way as well.

Got all turn signals and hazard lights, good start.

No running or brake lights and only a half ass attempt at the drivers headlight.

Trying to trace wires back to their origin and test for continuity.

The old fashioned exposed fuses are special, and what a rats nest.

Enough to make it a lot of fun!
Are the brake lights and running lights grounded properly. I had issues with mine at one point and it ended up being the ground.

They each have a dedicated ground from the body of the lamp to the body, so that should be good.

The battery is pretty dang old and no longer wants to hold a charge whe even with a charger, so can't do much troubleshooting until i get a new one.

I was trying to see if i could jump the brake wires at the switch with no luck when i realized there wasn't enough power in it to even power an led.

Hoping that the dying battery was the dim headlight issue.

Remove the ground wires from the body and make sure there is no rust or corrosion.
    Shine em up and reattach.
Was and still is a very common problem on older Chevy's.

Pulled the cables off the battery and had it charging... Reconnected and it has enough juice for some lights but won't turn it over.

And the range finder thing i have only lights up 6v (measures continuity, and voltage in certain ranges, 6, 12, 24 etc). It's a 12v car. So i guess it's time for a battery. It's a group 42, was hoping it was 24 so i could just steal one off the camper for the time being.

Ya get the battery. But when I had the tail light issue mine had the dedicated ground then and now and still had issues. It ended up not being a clean connection so I would still check those grounds.

Cool, I'll do that as well.

Hopefully the pos napa will have a battery in stock, but not going to bet any money on it.

Website wrong.. Had to order it for hopeful arrival tomorrow. $150, that's the most expensive part of this thing so far. But battery was over 10 years old, delivery date was June 2008.

    Battery picked up.

Ordered a second multimeter yesterday at lunch off Amazon and it arrived today! Harbor freight shit ordered on the 15th still working it's way to me.

The battery almost cost what 5 years of registration cost.

Cousin got a deer today so my working garage probably has deer pieces everywhere.

Battery installed, cranks great, headlights work.

No spark. What a dumb bitch. It was running beautifully before. There was a fuse under the rear seat that popped out and literally disappeared. Don't know what it was for, how big it was and where the hell it went. Tried fishing with a magnet, no sign.

And right side ruining light and brake light fuse pops when i turn them on.
