I have a 2018 off road double cab with the tech package and as far as I can tell there is no option that controls both the headlights and the dash lights.

what package would have included that option ?

I just have someone get on their hands and knees and I climb on top of them to get into my truck.

I think the running boards on a stock-height truck make it more difficult to get in and out. I like the door-ding/road salt blocking action though.

I wonder what a home made shade tree engineered grab handle would feel like when you drive your head into it during an accident?

A possible working solution would be a plastic panel that is a mirror of the passenger side and allows the use of the stock passenger handle and hardware.

Accidents are never ideal. It won’t matter, because you were hit head-on by a drunk driver who crossed the median in his mid 80’s shitbox that shouldn’t have been on the road and certainly wasn’t insured. The last inspection it passed was in 2000 and has more “handyman” fixes than an episode of This old house.

FWIW, sometimes I regret getting the racing model. I just have no use for all the unbridled speed and race-proven handling that they developed into the truck. However, it’s nice to have on track days.

Yeah, my racing days are long past.

My SR5 does have some giddy up though.

Can't even imagine what having all that extra TRD power must be like. Having the entire Toyota Racing Development team at your back must make for a exhilarating driving experience.

It's a huge responsibility, driving the TRD Sport. Every corner begs to be taken at high speed. Every stoplight is a dump clutch opportunity. I pulled up beside a Hellcat the other day....
(Wakes up and rubs eyes) "what the hell was I dreaming about?"

EASILY!! Put it in S1, ECT Mode (don't need that awkward shifting in your way) and BRAAAPPPP, leave him in your smoke trail..... Granted, the Hellcat is parked on the side of the road w/1 missing tire, but really, that's just nit picking at this moment.

Mainly, (as noted above) it’s a lot of responsibility. Every time I get in my truck I have to be ready to step up my game if I get called on to race. Also, you need to keep in mind you are driving a racing machine, and not overdo it on the way to get groceries.

Next time I’m buying an SR5. “Sport Rally 5-Speed” seems more my pace.

Have a chassis fab shop build you a 25.3 cage then you'll be able to use the windshield bar to hold onto
