I hope Toyota announces publicly when they plan on doing away with the Manual so I can order one.

Hahaha! It's going to be a really long throw down to watch! The Bollinger B1 is an electric 4x4 with some really cool features. Expensive right now, but I hoping for something along those lines in 25yrs if the Taco is ready for retirement.

It would be nice if they announced it. Although, if I had known that the 2017 SR MT I was interested in was going to be the last of that breed I might not have been able to get myself to negotiate as hard as I did when making the purchase last December.

I just looked up the Bollinger...holy shit is that awesome. Add another 100 miles to the range and take my fucking money...

Wait, could they put a manual in an all electric vehicle? I sure hope so, but I really have no clue how electric drivetrains work.

Check that thing out. It is way less douchey than 90% of 4x4 gas trucks on the market today.

Trust me. I am not an electric car fan in the least and if Toyota goes that route with the tacoma I'll never buy one. But that Bollinger looks cool.

That is the thing and how I could possibly live in an electric future. There is no transmission, but most electrics have heavy regenerative braking. The motors back charge the battery while coasting. This also gives a significant braking effect. So, while it doesn't have three pedals, you still retain significant control. It's sometimes referred to as one pedal driving.

Imagine driving around in 2nd gear all the time with a motor that winds up to 22,00rpm?

I can potentially see myself being happy that way, if I had to.

The other hope for EVs is that they eventually shit can the 12v accessories and the physical brakes. Basically, make it basic. That has appeal.

Other than the price, I was pretty much in their camp since it was announced. A homerun, IMO.

So far off the topic, it's almost hilarious.

Yup! I like the original SWB. With the configurable roof and the complete pass through, there is more utility space than I would ever need. I can imagine the easy stealth camping in it!

    Hahahaha!

The other thing about these are that they are set up as a blank slate. The basic dash rotates out for easy switch installs and such. This, or something similar, is gonna get Taco-level mod support.

Like I've said, I will drive the Taco into the dirt and will not let it go quietly into the night, but there is potential to be happy in the future. Ya know?

They claim that the 2-door version (4 door is really early design phase still) will be around 60k. 68k with the extended range batteries.
