    SOLD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If you have been waiting in line for one of the OVtune kits, I may be able to help get it a bit quicker....

Our 17 tacoma was just traded in and we have a “dongle” flash kit that we no longer need. Using this along with a windows laptop, you can tune your truck to OVtune’s latest and greatest tune to make your truck run, shift, and drive better. I ran the 1.04 tune for automatic and it helped the driveability IMMENSELY. The latest update (1.05) is about to come out any day now.

*This kit (as shown below) is for sale for $300 shipped*

After receiving the kit, the buyer will need to contact Mat from OVtune to set up and pay a licensing fee to activate it. He has two options to activate......

    from Mat himself:
“the new owner would have to purchase a $325 license fee, OR $250 license if they swap the dongle to our dongle-less software. You can direct them to us yes.”

Either option is cheaper than purchasing new through OVtuned. As I understand it, the newest setup they offer requires you to pay $600 for the software and then purchase your own tractrix cable on your own (another $150-180 as I understand it).

Please pm me with questions or interest.

If you have questions on how to activate the kit before deciding if you want to go this route, go to ovtuned.com and send a message to Mat....he can give you all the details.

*Included for $300 shipped: obd adapter, cable, activation dongle, and case

Is there any way that the Toyota dealer can tell that you used this? Will this void your factory warranty if the dealer finds out you used this? Is there a way to go back to to default/unflash if you need the Toyota dealer to work on your truck? Thanks ahead of time for the info. CHuck

So $300 for the dongle, which would then be traded for the dongle-less software plus $250, which results in a total of $550 out of pocket?

No, the dealer can not detect from my understanding. Yes, you can reflash back to stock tune files.....that’s actually what I did today prior to trading the truck in. If you are concerned about warranty work etc, you can reflash back to stock prior to taking the truck in for service.....the process of flashing doesn’t take but a few minutes.

There’s a wealth of info over in the OVtune thread.....

Yes. I would encourage you to contact Mat at ovtuned to confirm, but that is how he explained it to me.

FWIW.....I had the same concerns (and I think that most people do when they consider tuning). In my previous cars (subarus), there is a “flash counter” on the computer so that the dealer can see how many times and when the computer was last programmed. It has been explained to me that toyotas don’t have anything like this.....and also the tune calibrations appear to be stock to the dealer when/if they are ever scanned. In all the time that the tunes have been released, I’ve never heard of even one incident of a dealer denying work or warranty because of the tune......honestly, that sort of info would be all over this forum scaring people off if it had happened.....it hasn’t.

I had the OVTUNE on my truck and had it in and out of the shop. I literally asked the dealership about it and they couldn't have cared less. I got the TSB ECU flash from them as well before a chevy took my baby away.

If & when OP sells his dongle... and someone else wants the hardware, hit me up. I'll sell my set eventually.
