Hauled a double axle dove tail 8x16ft car trailer with the car on it. 5500lbs was what I towed over 150 miles. Did it just fine. Slow, but fine.

My Starcraft camper. I think it’s 2,300 lbs. pulls great.

I have 4.88s so towing was a little easier, but I've towed in the 2000lb mark. Not sure of the exact weight. Having a manual helps.

Sorry for the late reply, but that trailer weighed 2980 with out water or gear. That 4cyl pulled it just fine with that manual trans. Won't win a land race but very manageable and fun!

Anyone know what all is included in the tow package? I have a 2016 utility package SR and would like to make it "properly equipped".

Normally a tow package adds more engine cooling, trans cooler, oil cooler?, wiring and hitch.
Since you have a 2.7 MT, there isn't much you really need. It has plenty capable cooling.

Per my manual which should be the same:
    -Trailer wiring
    -Receiver Hitch
    -Trailer brakes over 1,000lbs
    -Anti-Sway over 2,000lbs
    -3,500 lbs max

I have yet to tow my 4x8 trailer but I will be soon. I am however a little anxious about my trip since this truck can barely pull itself down the road.

My base model 2017 SR (built Oct 17; bought Jan 18) has no trailer nor hitch packages, so it only "hauls" my fat butt.

it has towed 16x7 steel trailer with lumber for several construction jobs. pulled 5x10 steel trailer loaded with commercial cabinets and tools from MS to GA, then from GA to KY. no problems pulling SXS on 5x10 trailer or 18' bass boat. i have towed over the rated 3500 a few time. truck had 80k when i bought it and now has 180k. does not use/burn oil and has never had any motor or powertrain issues. run synthetic oil in motor and trans, recently added trans cooler. i also added hellwig helper springs and currently putting the eaton lsd in rear end. this little truck has made me a lot of money, what else is a truck for? big jobs i tow with my silverado... but that's 1 helluva reliable 4 banger in that toyota!

All that stuff up on your roof, the very large wind barricade made by the stuff in the trailer, and the fact that uhaul trailers tow very badly. I had to rent one of those exact trailers a week ago for an emergency, because my trailers are about 200 km from me and still buried under about 5 feet of ice, and its incredible how much those shitty uhaul trailers drag. It *feels* heavier than my flatbed tandem that weighs at least 3 times as much.

It was not fun, that is for sure.
For next time we decided to rent a van and tow the truck instead. Probably will be similar in costs as those vans get way better mpg’s towing that kind of weight.

Its a common misconception that a bigger vehicle will get better fuel efficiency towing.
It comes from a superficial look at the CHANGE in fuel consumption.

You get a big moving van, and it will get 10 mpg empty, or 9.8 mpg loaded, so the difference is only 0.2 mpg or 2%. Not much, eh?
Now you get your pickup, and it gets 28 mpg empty, or 14 mpg loaded. That's a difference of 14 mpg or 50%. Seems a huge difference.

But the important thing to look at isn't the change in fuel consumption, but the ABSOLUTE fuel consumption.
    14 mpg > 9.8 mpg.

Note: I'm sure that the 8 mpg you quoted is an exaggeration. Either that or you held it in 3rd gear WOT at 90 mph the entire run. I get 22-23 mpg while pulling moderately aerodynamic loads of around 6000-7000 pounds at 80 kph. By moderately aerodynamic, I mean cars or trucks or tractors up on a flatbed.
