I wish the 6spd was available for the 4Runner. It does have a manual transfer case though.

Shute u can figure out a way to swop one in. That would be one badass 4runner.

Anyone successfully delete the stupid clutch fluid accumulator in a 3rd gen yet? Or am I going to be the first one of these days?

As far as I know I was the first. Over a year ago and going strong no issues. Here is a thread on it that another member wrote up.

Anyone here come from the 2nd gen 6spd to the 3rd gen 6spd? How does the engine and transmission compare? I'm not sure I can live with the automatic in the 4Runner.

Weather man says snow this weekend. Normally I dread it because of my work but with the manual in this new truck I’m kind of excited to play in the snow.

FJ 6speed to 3rd gen 6speed... 3rd gen all the way.

    2nd gen < FJ < 3rd gen

The transmission itself is night and day improved, shifts like butter. The low end torque loss on the 3.5 is noticeable but it does have improved top end power. Reverse is a bit on the high side, feels like a highway gear.

I agree, reversing is a pain. Have to ride the clutch a bit much to keep it from lurching too fast backwards

For what it is worth deleting the clutch accumulator helps a ton on reverse in the 3rd gen.
