Ya... that's what happened when I was telling my wife about @Whitebutler s kid with the axe next to his seat in the car... my eyes were just getting sweaty.

That had to be one of the proudest damn moments a father can ever witness.

Here's a couple more suggestions for items to donate.

    Mainstays Deep Pocket Pillow

    http://www.walmart.com/ip/Mainstays-Deep-Pocket-Pillow/20450258

Fleece Throw Blanket - 50 Inch Children's Blanket - (Colors May Vary) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0131MRTR0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_1n05BbRBRBXWF

May not seem like much, but when kids are in a shelter situation, having lost everything they own, something simple as having THEIR OWN blanket and pillow can make a big difference.

I'll be in Sacramento tomorrow afternoon. Let me do some research to see if there have been any designated drop off points for supplies identified. If you have heard of any let me know. I'll go tomorrow, or if it's still too soon maybe Tuesday or Wednesday. I'll just need to take a day off from work. Send me a PM if you're still in, and list the days you are available.

    Edit:

So, based on this I'll make some phone calls to determine whether or not they are accepting donations.

    Butte County:
    Church of the Nazarene, 2238 Monte Vista Ave Oroville Ca. 95966;
Neighborhood Church, 2801 Notre Dame Blvd Chico, Ca.95928; Pleasant Valley
Baptist Church, 13539 Garner Ln, Chico, CA 95973

    Glenn County:
Glenn County Fairgrounds, 221 E. Yolo Street, Orland, CA 95963

    Yuba County:
Yuba/Sutter County Fairgrounds, 442 Franklin Street, Yuba City, CA 95991
Plumas County: Veterans Memorial Hall, 225 Gay Street, Chester, CA

Late Edit: Never realized it before, but a long time fly fishing buddy of mine is heavily involved with the Church of Nazarene in Oroville. I'll contact him straight away.

    Update:

Talked with my friend Dale, at the Church of the Nazarene, in Oroville.

For this Relief Effort they are affiliated with the Red Cross.

As far as food goes, he says it's amazing. Mass amounts of food is being brought in, so no need in that area.

This is the list of things they need right now.

    Adult wipes
    Baby wipes
    Pillows
    Diapers
    Bath towels
    Sweat Shirts - XL
    Sweat pants - XL
    Shoes
    Jackets
    Mens t-shirts - L & XL
    Hats - (probably knit type)
    Gloves
    Larger mens underwear
    Razor blades
    Shaving cream
    Nail clippers

Things of that sort. Not a complete list, just what Dale could think of off the top of his head. As you might expect, they are in a semi organized chaos there, right now. If you noticed, and you probably did, temperatures are dropping. I'm told it was in the low 30's yesterday morning in Petaluma. Up towards Oroville, probably colder. Warm clothing is needed!

As was mentioned by @Cuffs All clothes must be new.

However, if you want to donate GOOD used stuff they can be dropped off at the Hope Center or the Municipal Auditorium. Also, in Oroville.

I'll leave from Sacramento to Oroville around 3pm tomorrow.

After reading some posts and getting some messages, I want to be clear. All monies donated via PayPal go directly to our TW family members. None of it is being donated to charitable organizations. If you choose to make a donation to an organization, great!!

TW family helped us when we lost our home last year. I want to make sure our TW family is taken care of and Im paying it forward!

Sacramento Bee has an article about things folks from the fires need as well as information on volunteering (probably don't need as there are lots of folks--that could change in the days and weeks to come). You can read that article here.

John, I'm getting supplies together for next weekend. I have a bunch of relief items (razors, blankets, hygiene kits) going to be delivered mid week and more to be delivered here by Friday.

I'm also collecting donated items from friends and family (local). By weeks end I'm thinking I'm going to have more than I can carry in my truck. Hopefully we can get a convoy of us to take stuff up next Saturday.

@Don5352 is posting some great info on locations for us. I am also in touch with people in Chico and Gridley that will be able to give us more info as the situation progresses.

Logistically, my plan is a bit over ambitious. Tomorrow isn’t happening. I’m thinking Wednesday or Saturday. Let me know what works for you all so we can make this work!

If anyone has jackets, coats, large (and xl) sweatshirts, large (and xl) sweatpants, boots, shoes, gloves in decent to new condition... it's only going to get colder up there. Those are going to be needed items.

We have been blowing up our Facebooks trying to get out the word. I picked up a load of donations today, and we have another load to pick up tomorrow, with at least one more that will be ready before weekend.

Some shelters up there are not taking anything other than new, but others are taking anything as long as it's clean and in good shape. I have no problem going to multiple places to get things where they can be used effectively.

Also... my wife wanted to throw it out there. Conditioner is an item that many people wouldn't think of in these situations but it is a very needed item.

Also pillows, blankets, and maybe small stuffed toys. There are kids up there that have effectively NOTHING, if we can give them at least something to hang on to, it could be a really big deal.

I can't even attempt to explain the 3rd gen forum... because, well, it's the 3rd gen forum. The entire forum is full of people who think it's a good idea to spend $30,000-$40,000 on a truck with a stuttering engine and terrible transmission.

I can't make any sense out of that.

Uhm, third gen? And then asking for an explanation about that? Never really heard that come together. Not sure if it can.
